Lafourche Parish deputy accused of possessing child pornography after search of home, officials say

A Lafourche Parish deputy was arrested after investigators found child pornography on his electronic devices during a search of his home, officials said.

Phillip Guidry, 35, was arrested Wednesday in connection with possession of child pornography, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said.

According to the sheriff's office, detectives executed a search warrant on Guidry's Houma home Wednesday morning, where they found several images of child pornography on his devices.

Guidry was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on 20 counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13, investigators said.

Investigators said Guidry, who had worked for the sheriff's office for more than eight years, was officially terminated after his arrest. Most of his time on the force was spent as a patrol deputy. Before that, he served as a U.S. Marine, officials said.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office was assisted in the investigation by Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana Office of the Attorney General.

"These actions are reprehensible and are in direct opposition to our mission and values at the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office," said Sheriff Craig Webre. "As peace officers, we are expected to hold ourselves to the highest standards, but inevitably, some falter. I am extremely disappointed with this deputy’s actions. As we go forward, we will continue holding the men and women of our agency accountable and ensure they maintain the highest standards of integrity and service to the community.”
