Try having one allergic to all nuts, dairy, and egg even if cooked

My kid is 1 and it’s frustrating.

Some days he is shoveling and some days it goes straight on the floor.

A toddler doesn't eat because the food they are given does not taste good to them. they are very picky and it fluctuates wildly. thats just the way it is. you make them hungry enough to eat something they don't like and they will throw it up and be sick for at least half a day. You have to find something they like, that day, and feed it to them. They are innocent little beings, don't be hard on them. Going through the same with a grandson.

Exaclty. Sometimes it's just texture or something. It's hard but being too harsh only makes them pickier.

I have a kid like this. She’s almost 16. She lived. She eventually was able to have eggs but hates them.

Amen. I feel this in my bones.
Yesterday - loved chicken and veggies
Today - veggies and chicken are poison and he hates them.
I offer a meat, veggies, starch and some sort of sweet stuff (yogurt, applesauce).
I gave up trying to understand his palate a long time ago.

My wife was smart and she would offer veggies and other healthy options even when my daughter wouldn’t touch it. Their attention spans are like three minutes so she’d refuse but a few minutes later she’s nibbling on broccoli, salmon, whatever and now she eats them regularly.

Our pediatrician always old us they will eat when hungry. We are the ones with a specific timetable as when to eat. They are not

Just make sure you have something ready that is quick and easy when that time comes, Cause they will put interesting stuff in their mouth, if left to their own devices

A 21 year old studying abroad 5000 miles away in another hemisphere who suddenly needs medical treatment. That's pretty frustrating.

Yeah... this is you making a problem, not the toddler.

I mean aren't there times that you aren't hungry? You want some loud mouth a-hole trying to force you to eat?
If they don't want to eat, they don't want to eat. Just move on.

It's not always that simple. They want to play more than they want to eat most of the time. So, they will be hungry but not want to stop to eat. Then they start throwing tantrums bc they're starving but refuse to eat bc they're pissed.. thats when I just leave food out in the general vicinity and they eventually eat while playing or doing whatever it is they want to do.. Only exception to this in our household is dinner. Have to sit at the table as a family. Dont have to eat but have to sit.

At what age did you start this? I’d like to do this too but not sure when to start the habit.

I have 5 kids. Thought I had seen everything. Tonight my 2 year old was playing with the dust buster as she often does. My wife and I are talking, I’m sipping a whiskey, and the cute little blond hair, blue eyed baby comes running in and declares “daddy, I cleaned the poo poo!” And is wet from head to toe. She had used the dust buster to suck out the toilet water.

Not trying to one up you but….I win

Since he could sit up in a high chair.

As a toddler it often turns into rage fits but he win about 9/10 times and he's even coming around to it and has started asking us how our days went lol

Kids eat when they are hungry. Waiting them out is never going to be an issue.

We always did it. It was just expected at dinner time. I guess no one ever thought to ask to eat in their room, or not eat. If you didnt want what was for supper, bring something different to the table

It was designed to be a pleasant shared family time, not a time to exert ones authority
