Ours is new. And massive. Still can’t get it to 71 in the house. It’s just not happening. 74 is it. So we turned it up to 74.

We now live in a world where people are paying $20k+ for AC that can't do what a $500 window unit does. Think about that.

I get what you're saying but it exists to cool your home to a comfortable temp. It will eventually break like all mechanical things, might as well use it while you can. Hell it could be destroyed by a hurricane or a lightening strike etc. Can't live in fear.

Oh hell no. I hope you at least have a dehumidifier to keep the humidity in check.

To do a change out right now is expensive because it takes 4 to 5 trucks of techs, they have to rotate out the attic every 20 minutes. Go sit in ac truck while next 2 go up. After 20 minutes in 130 deg attic lungs can’t expand, headache comes. All them people cost money.

Best time to change out is january/ february

When the suns out, our house doesn’t get below 74. Doesn’t matter what the a/c is set to.

It’s been fricking brutal outside.

We never get below 74 till it’s like 830 pm. I think yesterday evening it was 76 in the house and I had the air on 73. It just can’t keep up.

Plus while trying to not pass out they are probably listening to the homeowner whining about how hot they are and asking how much longer every 5 minutes.

The proactive replacement in the off season would save people money in the long run but it seems like everyone wants to run them into the ground. It makes sense most failure will be during the absolute worst time to have one.

It’s a 5 ton variable speed 2 zone system. I’m getting a couple more quotes at least and hopefully the bandaid they put on yesterday gets us through the summer

Straight up miserable. My poor dogs come in after 5 minutes outside to piss and shite and their tongues are hanging. Just awful outside.

we were quoted $26k, $18k,$12k and $9,600. We went low.

And it works great.
