Do you deny that pit bulls were created to be fighting dogs?

How do those traits not matter?

They absolutely were. Those traits matter because human aggression was strictly culled and bred away from. Do some real reading. Not the biased bullshite you've been looking at. (You won't)

Also this guy
quote:

pit bulls were originally bred to withstand pain so they could hunt big game.

people, owners make them fighting dogs.

is completely wrong. The APBT was created using bull baiting dogs and ratting dogs(terrier breeds) for the purpose of dog fighting. The bull baiting folks wanted a new way to prove their bulldog was the baddest and started letting them fight, then added the terrier blood in later, creating an all around better specimen. This lead to more advanced breeding and the realization that they needed to be very human friendly, and the culling started from there.

People don't understand that people who participated in the dog fighting rings back in the day were mostly blue collar workers (especially dock workers). The fights weren't to the death because the dogs were an investment. So, you would have to pull your dog out of the fight. Do you think dock workers, who used their hands as a means to provide for their family, would risk an injury? No. They trained the dogs to NOT be people aggressive. They were bred to NOT be people aggressive. So what happened? Well, when their utility was outlawed, that energy, that DNA, still remained. People, especially today's lower class, don't know the dangers of that aggression. shite, they don't even know how to tell WHEN their dog is aggressive (it's NOT as always apparent as growling/snarling).

How can you prove this with 100% certainty?

Why aren’t other breeds that have lived a hard life attacking people at the same rate as pits? There are tons and tons of lab mixes in shelters that aren’t even a blip on the scale compared to pit bulls with regards in injuring humans.

I've educated myself extensively on the history of the breed. The same info is available to you too.

Why aren’t lab mixes from shelters attacking people at the same rate as pits?

In fact, why isn’t ANY large breed attacking people at the same rate as pits?

without even getting into the high rate of misidentified breeds in shelters I'll just say this.
It's probably mostly bc lab mixes and pitbull mixes aren't ending up in the same hands.

Misidentified.

C’mon man. You and I both know that anyone with the slightest knowledge of dogs can identify a pit bull or pit mix from other breeds. They don’t look like lab mixes.

You sure about that? Why did the shelter call his pup a lab boxer mix and the vet said pit mix? It's insane how many mixes without a drop of APBT blood are called put mixes.
Pure bred, no apbt blood

Pure bred, no apbt blood

Pure bred, no apbt blood

Pure bred, no apbt blood

Now imagine mixes...

You should accidentally have it euthanized to save at least one human life, maybe more.

Didn’t read all the responses and I’m sure it’s been posted, but 95% of dogs rescued from the pound are pit mixes

Something like 70% of mixed breed dogs have pit in them. That's because pit bull isn't a breed. It's four breeds which people who are too ignorant to understand use as a label to talk about any dog that looks scary.

As long as you don't abuse the dog he will be sweet and never hurt anyone. Just like every dog.

Y'all come up with some dumb arse shite in these threads. The American Pitbull Terrier is absolutely a breed.
