It’s always rated right there at the top of the countries most dangerous roads.

It’s a cut thru EAST-WEST to bypass I-10 and doing a rounded circle going they New Orleans.

So naturally, I would say it’s at least 50/50 18-wheelers to cars, sometimes worse as in today, I’m surrounded by them going 2 mph.

Every single day, trucks are flipping over. I got ran off the road one morning & almost flipped my truck, sideswiped the middle railing and $2,500 in damage and had to pay myself.

Anyways, this DUMB arse STATE led by the used car salesman, snake oil rep Governor is more worried about making Kratom illegal than building 1-2 lanes on each side of I-12

They have MORE THAN ENOUGH ROOM, and it’s every fricking day including RIGHT NOW, my Nuts are Swollen right about now. Bumper to bumper for over 30 minutes so far, no end in sight.

Every fricking day, and mostly it’s always going West to East for some reason.

That’s my rant and pointed at Baton Rouge and St. Tammany.

St. Tammany more worried about handing out seatbelt tickets and harassing me 2-3 x’s day getting pulled over, my record is 3x’s, had. Headlight go out and didn’t realize it, and cop after cop pulled me over from the end of causeway to my house 7 minute away. But neglect I-12 needing 4 more lanes.

It’s Horse shite, I can’t stand this state, born and raised, but arse backwards and it gets old.

You should have taken your helicopter. Or are you a poor of some kind?

St Tammany (and Mandeville especially) are getting more and more dysfunctional and messed up right now. And the politicians appear as corrupt and incompetent as ever. At the current rate, the Northshore will be no different from Metairie if not NOLA in 25 years.

It is truly an awful stretch of road.

A simple law requiring big trucks to stay in right lane at all times would fix the problem. Some other states have it in place.

All of I-12 sucks except for the small part in LP that they widened. Way too many trucks. Too much traffic in general with too few improved alternative routes.

US-190 is still a narrow two lane road in most of that area.

I-12 should be 6 lanes minimum, maybe wider in some sections.

Poor pickup driver wanting to drive 100 mph had to touch his brake pedal. Prayers sent, baw.

FWIW, I agree about three laning every mile of interstate in this country.

Widen it to 6 or 8 lanes, trucks stay put in the right two lanes.

Way too much truck traffic on that stretch for the quality of roadway we have. No getting around that we need a major upgrade.

Sounds like you're projecting on Baton Rouge. School is in, people aren't leaving BR to go to the beach right now. BR is almost an hour away from Mandeville so you have no idea how many people are coming from BR.

Sorry, no. All that will do is cause trucks to have to slow down when people merge onto the freeway doing 30mph under the speed limit. Have you seen how many threads on merging we’ve had this week?

Why not the state government and LADOTD for dragging their arse on anything that adds value to the taxpayer’s quality of life? This is a dangerous section of road with limited alternative routes.

Well if it isn't the weekly "I swear bro, just X more lanes would fix the problem" thread

Fixed. The entire length is a PITA. The stretch between Hammond and Covington must have been built across various Indian burial mounds but it's all annoying AF.

The extra lanes on the other side of Livingston need to be extended for the entire route and the intersection of 12 & 55 needs a major overhaul (see also: Airline) while from BR to Denham needs a legit service road on either side. Hell, even just an entrance/exit lane which went from one entrance ramp to the next exit would be a help.
