Hell, even if the local politicians all got paid off like they want, the state never puts the money aside for matching funds. Unless we are given the billions to build a bridge or a loop, I don't think it will ever happen.

Word was here the spans on 210 were found to be made out of the incorrect material spec and have got to be replaced.

The slope on that bridge is around 3.5%, while most grades today are 2% or less. It's a steep mofo for a long ways up.

did you even read the article? the I-10 bridge in Lake Chuck isnt a Lake Chuck bridge. It is an I-10 bridge that connects the East to the West. Being it is deficient it is much bigger than a 3rd BR bridge.

A few years ago, we hung scaffolds under bridge for extensive repairs. There were entire I beam connections rusted away, no contact! Im no engineer, but... I was shocked at the level of decay.
A major hindrance is the EDC contamination of marsh on west side of bridge. 10-15 years ago, it was discovered that a Vista EDC pipeline has been spilling EDC in that area. The leak had gone unnoticed for a while, authorities weren't sure of quantity spilled. Once any digging or disturbance of the contaminated soil/mud begins, the entire Calcasieu estuary could be affected.

That particular bridge was built before I-10. It was never designed to be part of the interstate system. It actually had a walking path over it at one time.
