Due to current road closures in the Raceland area, the following schools will be closed today:

Raceland Lower Elementary
Raceland Upper Elementary
Raceland Middle
Bayou Blue Elementary
Bayou Blue Upper Elementary
Bayou Blue Middle
Central Lafourche High School
So, a public school teacher started the fire??

I got caught in this. Needed to be in New Orleans for surgery at 7. I left at 445am and get stuck in Raceland.

Why doesn't State Police put out a public service alert like an Amber alert to notify everyone a major road is closed? Yeah, it was on the news but I left before news was on and I dont always watch the news anyways.

And there wernt any cops helping with the cluster frick of traffic in Raceland.

Sorry for your situation.

I can only imagine but I’d venture that sweaty arse crack smells about as bad.

I hate the smell of bonfires.

It's totally legal as long as they get burn permits

It's no different than when they burn the cane fields

We wouldn’t burn our marsh till the end of February after trapping season was over. The marsh would be dry and we would light it behind a good North wind and everything would be over in a matter of hours. About 4,000 acres.

Yea, I remember when they used to wait until AFTER hunting season to burn......we burn the marsh south of the ICW after hunting season to flush out the rabbits

They posted updates on Facebook.

Would you like them to setup an Autodial system to call you personally?

La511.org has notifications you can setup.

I used to duck hunt in N.O. East marshes, we used to see, and hear, the rabbit hunters and their dogs. They would light the fire to chase the rabbits to where they were hiding, you would hear the hounds then gunshots. I'd see them at the launch with a pirogue full of rabbits.

Of course, the fires just kept smoldering.

No just an APV that alerts everyone in the area kinda like the National Weather Service.
