We've benne letting commercial and real estate developers running buck wild in this parish. And I'm tired of it. We're making the same mistakes BR made decades ago in its expansion by letting small town guys run things and we're going to get fricked up the arse here.
But there's a runoff election for parish president in Clint Cointment and Kenny Matassa. I'm voting for Clint as he's by far the better option as opposed to Matassa as he gets that traffic infrastructure and sewage development needs to happen before anything commercial and real estate goes. Matassa is just for the status quo.

Aren't there some new things coming to 73 also? I had someone tell me a new neighborhood was going up and like a target or something?

Well it's assfault so it will need to be redone in 10 years or less.
The bid for a concrete road easily lasting three times as long was less than a couple hundred thousand dollars above. Pathetic decision making.

Public bid has nothing to do with it. Austin Bridge and Road is hardly shady - the biggest problem they had with I-10 to Highland is they loaded up on Obamas "shovel ready" projects and got caught thin.
And Ascension Parish can supplement the state contract if they prefer 4 lanes instead of 3- which dear god that road needed it. EBR supplemented Jefferson Hwy, Old Hammond Hwy and I believe Burbank. Or get better politicians in the state house.
That will prove to be a big mistake by not adding extra lanes during that time.

I think jones creek as well, but it has been years since I talked with the engineer for that project.

They also purposely low balled the shite out of that project and tried to change order the hell out of it. There was also the fact that they had no clue how to build on the soil there as opposed to what they were used to in Texas.

Not surprising, his belief is that it would get back burnered despite needing to be done more.
Thought it was a utilities nightmare, but had been 5+ years since we talked.

So AP representatives to the state house have nothing to do with this?
Many and most state projects have plenty of input from individual parishes especially a road like hwy 73. As said above if AP wanted more lanes than the state would pay for they simply could have paid the difference and piggybacked it during construction. Which if you ask me would have been the thing to do. That road needed it ten years ago and if anyone thinks they will later just "add another lane" than they haven't been around Louisiana road construction long. That shite won't happen until Chickens grand kid is admin on the OT.

Typical Louisiana corruption was at play here as well. Austin Bridge knew they could change order the hell out of the project and get away with it due to the "connections" they had at the state level.
