Please stay in LA. We have Hispanic folks here (Houston) who have pride in working and aren’t entitled. You and your man are NOT professional nor are you skilled labor, thus have zero basis to complain about any market.
Funny you say this, ran a Maid Service in DFW for years. Hired a Hispanic maid- who complained to me that she did not think it was fair that I expected her to work legally, she told me she should have everything for free- housing, education, and food, -- and get paid cash always. I experienced this several times, not just once. That's pretty entitled if you ask me. Now I know that's not always the case, but it's what I experienced-- so maybe your situation and experiences are different. And by the way, my grandfather was a Garcia, so no hating on Hispanic people. He worked his butt off his whole life.
Secondly, my husband did the same job for 25 years and worked his way up to management and was so respected at the company he worked for that he could call them tomorrow ( 4 years after layoff) and have a job in Florida or Texas immediately. If that's not professional,-- then your statement adequately sums up all that is wrong in Louisiana.

Yes, do you work remotely or do corporate housing. I agree, I hate Houston.

No, the problem is greedy corporations that are implementing AI to do peoples jobs-- careful... it may happen to you too.
Oh, I see. Y’all both have a “woe is me” attitude problem. It’s not the company’s fault he doesn’t have valuable, marketable skills. Tell him to go get a specialty welding certification. $35-$40hr plus overtime in most places.
Or just vote for Bernie and you can stick it to all the greedy corporations you want.

I’ve been told by multiple people that in reality it is the complete opposite of what you said.

A lot of those guys will work Saturday and Sunday as well and if you don't have the hours to give they'll get a side gig so they can work after regular hours and on the weekends. I've found Hispanics to be very industrious people.

If the position that he had is being automated then he needs to repurpose himself and figure out how he can apply whatever skills it is that he has to another career path. He needs to view this as a kick in the arse and an opportunity.

He worked for a Mortgage Servicing Company for years. His last job was Call Monitoring for a Bank Call Center. The job was automated. It's now being done by a system called Call Miner.
Any number of banks will hire him as a loan officer.

My uncle had a construction company in Houston area for over 20 years. His guys were hard workers and like family to us. Unfortunately, that's not always so. At least in my experience.

This has turned into another Texans constant itch to bash Louisiana thread. They are becoming more and more subtle.

Nope. Houston. I love it.
Not a fan of Dallas or the burbs around it tbh. To each their own though
