get off on the east side of Tallahassee and go 4 miles north to Monticello. Go east on hwy 90, because 10 is closed. Get gas wherever you can when you get off of 10.

Official without power here. Went out around 10am due to non storm related ossue. Back on and then lost Official due to storm around 4pm.

I need to spring for a whole home generator one day but for now i have the f150 lightning powering my fridge/freezer, tvs, fans. Should have gotten a portable ac unit.

Google says it is closed until midnight. If they make you get off, follow the directions I gave you. You lose 15-20 minutes, but keep rolling. Good luck.

For the mark up on that truck you could have gotten a regular F-150 and the generac.

Got a Generac a month ago. Happy with my decision and no fear of power outage.

Eh, I could have also gotten a used Honda civic, rented a truck when I actually need one and invested the difference.

But I didn't because well because thats not what I wanted. not every choice has to be some financially correct choice. I didn't get the truck because of "generator" capabilities. Just happened to be a nice bonus that happened to help this year. It's a fun truck to drive and nice not have to "fill up" anymore. And works for my uses. Don't want to turn this into another ev bashing thread. Just wanted to post a positive out of the shitty out of power negative.

Ok boys had quite the adventure going through backroads in Madison, Greenville and Monticello especially at night since I10 was closed. Dodging trees was the main issue. Finally made it to I75. If anyone’s wondering gas station is open where 249 runs into I75. All I got to say is Madison is a war zone.

Considering what he's running on it, it would take 2 weeks or so to run the battery down from full. That's if he doesn't have the solar panel charger to replenish it. The lightning has a special system built in for what he's doing with it.

Lots of flooding but all things considered not too bad. I went to check out the Ashley just north of the bridge to West Ashley an hour before high tide. River was definitely over its banks In places and was probably gonna be lapping over the pier but not as bad as I expected.

News was saying on ramps and Ashley River Marina parking lot were both flooded. I assume all the usual flooding spots had a decent amount of water.

You can see where it’s over it’s banks here.

I took some video from down by the pier and it was whipping pretty good. Was a little nervous running under those oaks. Not sure how to post it.

Well he was thinking about running a window AC, that 500-1000 watts of power each hour it is running. Add a fridge and or a freezer, that battery ain’t getting close to two weeks. Maybe 2 days, if you conserve.

Then you have a dead truck. Something a simple small portable generator can help to power the lights, window units and freezer instead of depending on your transportation that has a finite amount of power until electricity is restored. A gas generator is only dependent on how much fuel you have available to you.

I bought one after Ida. I cranked it up on Sunday to make sure it still works in case Idalia had other plans, I hadn’t cranked it in almost a year. It runs on gasoline and can power the window ac, freezer, and fridge without straining.

So if u watch the Reed videos from earlier today how are them baws communicating. You can tell it’s some kind of radio. Is it ur basic two way academy special or something more powerful. Could they be also using cellphone boosters and like apps on a phone?

The avg home uses 30kwh per day. If you run 30kwh on the Lightning, it will run for 3 days. If you ran a small A/C unit, full on, for 24 hours a day, it would still last 6-7 days. I'm not really an EV fan, but I also appreciate the tech, while still being critical of the negatives.

Before, during, and after a storm, gasoline isn't exactly plentiful.

I would have gotten pronably 2 weeks of service or more out of the truck with current use. I used 5% of the battery yesterday/overnight and the power is back on now. If adding the portable a/c unit probably would have gotten 5-6days of use along with the other items I have plugged in.

But with that all said, I don't disagree. As mentioned in the first post, realistically I'd rather have a whole home generator that runs on our natural gas service for all the reasons you mentioned and as I mentioned I didnt buy the truck for its generator capabilities. I understand the limitations and it was a nice bonus for the 12 hours or so the power was out. I would never consider using it as realistic source of backup power for more than 3 days.

Again was just posting a positive of my situation. But you do you if you're wanting to turn this into another ev thread.
