who said anything about shutting down the thread but if you're going to live in constant fear because of a thunderstorm you might want to get your testosterone levels chevked

You have to look at all the factors around what this could be… most people just look at what track it might take instead of looking at what could effect any storm… geez some just don’t get it and go into panic mode way to early…

Tropical storms can do some damage and coastal flooding, though the impacts are typically close to the shore, there can still be impacts.

Especially for the part of the Panhandle Michael hit two years ago.

it's almost like we live on the gulf coast and these things are expected?

Rain is a tropical storm’s biggest impact. Wind damage is non existent with tropical storms. Even if they say the winds are sustained at 70 mph a gust to 50 is probably the fastest anywhere will record on shore.

This is usually true but there are certain storms that disagree.

Bro I've seen tropical storms do more damage than a hurricane and I haven't been around like some old timers on here

It's clearly not the main concern but I've seen plenty of minor wind damage form TS force winds in my life.

It's the flooding (coastal and fresh water) that can be plenty impactful for vulnerable areas.

Hell, Claudette caused some pretty significant inland flooding earlier this year.

its not even projected as a hurricane

Oh good we can shut down the thread now since rocket says it’ll be a nothingburger. Come to think of it I’ve never even seen a system enter the Gulf in August become anything to worry about.

2 days ago it wasn’t projected to reach TS status.

Seems I remember last year at one point early in the models Marco was supposed to reach cat 2-3 and Laura was a nothibgburger. We saw how that ended up

I'm glad you didn't post it. You know good and well it wouldn't count for a Bingo square.

I think it is just a general principle of meteorology/storm forecasting that you ALWAYS initially assume a storm will make landfall in Morgan City then work your way out accordingly.

Lol

I am in Morgan City and it is always the same story. First few days of forecasting we are dead center of the cone and it is mass hysteria here. It goes east or west of us 90% of the time. I'm not complaining but people forget this every time there is a storm threat. lol
