That may be a factual comment, but even semantically it means that August 17th “LATE August” and not “MID August.” To me most people use an early/mid/late chronology and not just an early/late chronology. If they wanted to divide in 2 they would use 1st half/2nd half.

The model run goes through the end of August. For that model run it was the quietest the guy making the comment has ever seen a model show for late August. It isn't a complicated concept to understand, and it isn't wrong, technically or otherwise.

I know but he is jinxing it

Stating a fact of what something shows at a given time isn't jinx territory. Saying, "This hurricane season is going to be a nothingburger for the Gulf" with a month and a half of season left is jinxing it.

No, actually if some models verify, the whole state of Texas is gonna get soaked from that system interacting with a front passing through.

You come from a long line of tough, kinda crazy people who watch tornadoes from their roof. You can handle it.

I've been seeing the rainfall totals. Haven't looked much into how it sets up, though.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

Southwestern Gulf of Mexico:
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are associated with a tropical
wave located over southeastern Mexico that is expected to emerge
into the Bay of Campeche tomorrow morning. Environmental conditions
appear favorable for additional development, and a tropical
depression could form while the system moves northwestward over the
southwestern Gulf of Mexico on Friday or Saturday. However, by
Saturday night, the system is expected to move inland over
northeastern Mexico, which will end its chances of development. An
Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is scheduled to
investigate the system tomorrow, if necessary.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...40 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent.

Yeah, but the exchange rate where you are is measured in beaver tails and grizzly hides.
