GFS is fricking with LSU fans today
Posted on 8/24/22 at 8:40 am to rds dc
Today (8/24) marks the 30th anniversary of hurricane Andrew's destruction in South FL. Residents here learned their lesson with that hurricane, and nowadays take precautions very seriously.
I was 19 back then. And I vividly remember people taking that storm lightly. I worked at a movie theatre then and we had customers walking in the night before.

Saw the question in the other hurricane thread if we’ve ever gone this late in an Atlantic season without a hurricane forming. Just heard Zach Fradella say this is the weakest storm year through this date since 1988.
The first hurricane strength storm that year was Hurricane Debby that reached hurricane strength on September 2.
Hurricane Florence made landfall near New Orleans area a week later on September 9.
Just goes to show there was some a-hole that year who jinxed us talking about what a slow hurricane year it was

When one model shows a storm develop he runs straight to Facebook to sound the alarm and, on top of that, begins the post with fricking all caps

Yep all it takes is one.

There's a serial downvoter in the weather thread. Been like this for weeks.

Thankfully the GFS has performed horribly this season so far. Euro shows nothing 10 days out in the Gulf. Our collective PTSD shows in these model run by run swings. The midnight run had a weak storm going up the East coast of Florida on the GFS.
Yeah, but the GFS was just waiting for the first LSU home football game to be accurate.

I'm really bothered by the wishcasters on the other sites. Texas posters latching onto the GEFS and the few members that send it to Texas, Florida posters going crazy about the GFS.
Could you post links to those sites? I would like to read more about everything.
TIA

Storm2k and Stormcast Forums.
Storm2k is very stuffy, very much a wishcaster's wet dream. You'll get banned if you go against the "we're all gonna die!" group think.
Stormcast is not really that active until you see a Louisiana threat, then they all lose their minds, including some of the names that have been mentioned here.
Oh and wxinfinity weather forums for all you Texas people. That one is also a wishcaster's wet dream. Every system is going to end houston on there. They're all in the August 2022 thread, circle jerking.

It's the only one of these I ever follow, by I find it almost hysterical in this way.

It has great info, don't get me wrong, but it's hard sometimes to wade through the hysterics over every model run.

/r/tropicalweather is pretty slow until there is a storm
it is full of wishcasters and people begging for hurricanes

I rely on Tropical Tidbits & Levi.
When the potential storms show up there, I start to take notice.
