This thing does not look like a TS

Are they exaggerating the current strength?

Sooner they name it, the sooner homeowners insurers can lock out new policies.

Another thing I noticed in models is it appears the cold front is a day late. That was probably talked about in here at some point.

People like to joke in these threads until it's a monster bearing down on them. Unfortunately it's just the way it goes in here sometimes.

ehh... without some levity these threads would just cause a lot of people to go insane

helps relieve some stress in a somewhat appropriate way

It's definitely a mess. Might be a little overdoing it as a TS.

When I was in New Orleans on Monday, it was flooding all over downtown area and metairie just from some rainstorms that morning. I even took some pictures while at a stop light of people driving through 2+ feet of standing water.

If this does come our way with even just one day of heavy rain, I sincerely hope the pumps in New Orleans are working. I can't imagine being a tax paying citizen of New Orleans and having to worry about flooding during a typical afternoon summer rain.

I'm just mostly worried about wind for my spot. It's not going to flood where I'm at. My area is definitely vulnerable to it but not where I live. I'm on one of the highest points in my area elevation wise. The flood last year just put me on a big arse island where I had to use a boat to get out or swim. I have a dead tree right by my house that Mother Nature decided to kill and 2 more all hit by lightning within a year. I was going to get them removed here soon but looks like it's too late for hurricane season.

I'm hoping to at least end up on west or NW side of this thing if it strengthens on Northshore.

I think it's now over land and that may be ripping it up a bit

What is fear mongering about that? Do you not like hearing facts? Just because you don't like hearing it doesn't mean it's fear mongering.

they can impose a new business moratorium whenever they want. If a tropical system is in the gulf that poses a threat, they can shut down as they please when it comes to accepting new biz.

Can't be critical of anyone being concerned after the season we've had and the storms that Louisiana has experienced in the past. Too many times people don't take them seriously.

Even though Irma was a weakening TS when it reached here we still ended up with the neighbors trampoline upside down in our backyard.

All the rivers that feed into Lake Maurepas are closed already due to high water.

As well as all waterways south of La 22 in Tangi Parish

The river is so high the low land marsh is flooded down the street from my house (about 14-15ft down). Never have seen that happen in a year and a half. If it comes here, my neighborhood will flood

Persistent wind out of the east for the past few days. Pushing water into the lakes and marshes.
