What is projected strength of Nate when reaching panhandle?

Any forecast on that?

rds is the real deal. Baytiger, who sometimes posts, is a pro too.

I'm a hobbyist with enough of a background in physics to at least follow the technical stuff but I definitely lack the depth of knowledge of our pros and the other pros who produce information. I've just always found the weather fascinating.

It's interesting how the models go from intracoastal city, la to past Panama City but the NHC has their track shifted to the east end of the models.

Growing up I had my own meteorology room in our basement with paper hurricane tracking maps, bottles of water to study tornados etc. i would take my moms camcorder and stand in our garage and video tape storms. Went and saw Twister with my dad and its still one of my favorite movies.

I love weather and always have. If I wasnt a CPA id be in weather somehow whether it be chasing or in a news room.

You sound like me, minus the basement because gulf coast.

Down the road I might go back and a graduate degree in meteorology. Pretty sure I'll never chase, mostly because wife would murder me, but I'd be happy behind a desk for the NWS or something.

ETA: the HMON doing HMON things

That son of a bitch is simply broken. They should put it out to pasture and start over from scratch.

They really need to improve the GFS. I don't know what the Euro model does that makes it so much more reliable

their govt's fund and staff it better, better equipment

what a shocker

It's alot of that, but as explained earlier, it also has a different mandate than the GFS.

I wonder if it's the lack of ocean coupling. Shouldn't be a big deal, but I believe it was designed to run coupled. Maybe that's throwing it off.

NHC is going to error on the side of the more reliable location guidance models. Some of those spaghetti models aren't worth a shite.

Oh I wish I could remember which one of the in the know weather enthusiasts here told their class they were all going to DIE with his pretend forecast.

It's the guy who is the banker in real life! Y'all help me ... GeauxMedic, Duke, Slack -- think maybe it was Slackster. I know it wasn't rds dc or Baytiger
