I just marked myself safe in Baton Rouge on FB.

Waiting for friends in Biloxi/Gulfport to do the same.

Up here near Montgomery during a tornado warning a single wide moved four feet. No damage, just moved.

In reality Nate is probably about a 55 mph tropical storm. But the NHC and government has to hype it up to try to make global warming seem real.

highest storm surge right now is 4.6 feet at Shell Beach. For comparison, a real hurricane Isaac.. which was the exact same strength as Nate produced a storm surge of 11.6 feet at Shell Beach.

Nate moving so fast hampered its ability to generate a larger surge

I don't think he's been on since the news broke.

Type "TD-OT" in the coupon box to see if he's giving any discounts to OTers.

Radar says you should be seeing in the 60-70 mph range on gusts, so Nate definitely isn't mixing the stronger winds down. Limiting surge and damage on the coast. We all got some luck here.

I'm back inside now and the storm has definitely picked up in the past 30 or 40 minutes. I can hear some big gusts and wind driven rain on the shutters.

I went to WalMart about 4:00pm (because the women needed Ghiradelli brownie mix...) and the water was up to the seawall in that area. The east end of The Pass and Long Beach are really low. I'm sure water is over Hwy 90 by now down there. However, in the higher area of PC the water was still ~30' from the seawall at 7:30pm. I haven't gone back out there since then and I can't see shite from the house. If the wind and the rain slack up after midnight I might try to take a walk out there and see if the water is over the highway in this area (about 3/4 mike east of the marina).

In all fairness, Isaac was a pretty slow moving storm so there was more time for it to push surge in. Nate is breaking records as the fastest moving storm ever over water in the gulf

Not watching Weather Channel anymore but last time I checked, Mobile was supposed to get some increased winds around 1 AM through dawn.

Thank you. Seems about like a normal everyday storm over here. Not much to it so far. We actually needed the rain. Rain gauge out back shows 4" so far.
