My power went out about 90 mins ago. How long can I go without power before I need to worry about my food in the refrigerator/Freezer If I don’t open the doors? I don’t want to get the portable generator out till I need to. Winds are still rocking.
Too late now, but for next time, my buddy told me about the cotton ice trick. Fill baggies with cotton balls, pour water in and freeze as many as you can and fill fridge and freezer. The cotton fiber makes the ice strong as hell.

Accuweather had 129 mph gust in St. Pete. Think sustained will be around 100 mph for most of Pinellas County.

Still very heavy rain in disney. And starting to get some decent wind gust speeds.
Kissimmee Airport shows highest sustained of 52 gusting to 63 so far. I doubt Orlando will see 80 sustained. Only a few 75-80 sustained have been reported anywhere around Tampa.

That’s not the only shot he’s taken to the face.

I am impressed that Tampa
And at St Pete looks like they still have power
Much of the Tampa power grid is famously underground, which is what makes the threat of storm surge such a big deal and why they've been lucky to avoid it going on 100+ years now.

4ish hours for refrigerator, and up to 48 hours for freezer if it’s full. 24 hours if it’s half full. Etc.

Everything Disney builds has to be up to Epcot Building Codes (it was the building code for their special district when they had it). Typically everything has to be built to withstand +100 mph wind. Doesn’t mean it will, but wouldn’t be surprised if it stands the test.
Florida has pretty strict new building code standards. I have a ton of systems down there and all rated to 150mph minimum plus a safety factor.

Orlando is definitely getting some big wind. I'd say this is up there with Irma and Ian for us. Maybe not Charley yet but the worst is still yet to come.

Why are they only detected wind gusts of 107 mph, thats a cat 2 gust maximum. Have the changed the way they measure wind gusts or hurricanes now. A hurricane with 120 mph sustained winds should have wind gusts in the 135-140 mph range.
In Katrina there were gust in the 130 mph range before equipment failed in popularville and Laurel which are like 50 and 70 miles inshore and all the wind detection devices were blown off or failed in its path South of Hattiesburg. Plus there was a guy in the parking garage in Gulfport harbour area that had a 150 + mph gust detection although insurance companies tried to dispute it. (Crazy mfer lucky to have survived)

Can anyone tell me where to find current wind speeds of a smaller location (I’m in Sebring)?
Not sure how accurate my weather app is (it’s showing 80+ mph).
