Haven't been keeping up today but is it fair to say the AI was better with this since Monday and pretty much nailed it?
I’m not sure that’s fair. Primarily because AI isn’t held accountable, but people are. So the NHC is more dynamic in the regard and update based on ALL info periodically. The process is actually the value they provide. Pinpointing the track is not the primary objective. It’s almost a biproduct of predicting intensity and impact.
It’s hard to explain, but I have followed this since last week, and I feel very informed and not surprised by what we now know. Even just subtly knowing this was something to keep an eye on comes from experience. AI has never had to settle an insurance claim on their home.
The ultimate decision is whether you need to remove your family from danger. That is a naturally dynamic analysis and can change suddenly/immediately. AI helps with analysis it isn’t a substitute.
So to complete my rambling, I don’t actually know if it AI nailed it, and I’m sure it can provide incredibly useful fuel things for humans to consider, that’s its purpose, but I don’t see any value in leaning on AI in this area for personal or societal reasons. Also I don’t really know how AI is different than “models” that have been around for years.

Someone will go back and find a video of him pronouncing the name perfectly back in 2020.

The 7 PM CDT longitude at 88.8 West is 380 miles due south of Ocean Springs, MS which is the westernmost point of the Hurricane Warning.

Football in bama?
1983 Iron Bowl. There were horrific storms popping off all over the BHM metro. About 3rd Qtr, they paused and the PA guy at Legion Field says, there has been a tornado spotted within miles of Legion Field. Crowd gets silent. Long pause.
PA guy: 1st down Auburn at the 43.
Crowd goes nuts.
Carry on.

Keep it simple. Just give us Tropical Storm Jimmy, Hurricane Ethel, etc.

Maybe Desantis is getting dumber the longer he is in politics.
Probably uses "impact" instead of "affect"

Impact is correct though.
No shite. That’s why idiots say it so much. They don’t know when to say effect or affect.

I'm sure there's some weather explainstion but it is always beautiful weather a day or 2 before a tropical storm hits.

Fun fact. In alaska the sunsets are like that in the twilight time during the summer when the sun barely sets.
Beautiful every damn evening
