Is our favorite storm chaser in Florida yet?
He was in the Keys (I think) yesterday, but yeah he is already there.

One of my co-workers told me yesterday he was going to ride it out. The storm was going to be too weakened by its run up the middle to cause him too many problems.
He's in Branden, just to the east of Tampa. Hope he reconsiders. He also owns two planes. He should at least fly one out to safety.

Seems like Tampa/St Pete is more in the crosshairs than Miami. Is this true?

I have been through (in LA) Andrew, Katrina, Gustav and Isaac. I never left, although we were inland 157 miles.
Please know that the above in no way constitutes encountering the real power of any of those storms. We were 60 miles west of Slidell, La. for Katrina. Power was out for 2 weeks. Town water supply failed for a day. Yard was an epic mess. We were lucky.
I went to Carr drive in Slidell 4 days after Katrina to help a friend check on his house. His house was gone. GONE, as in they never identified it among the rubble of all the other houses 2 miles inland past Hwy. 11. Tree equations would have been irrelevant. None still standing had tops.
Now consider that Slidell wasn't even in the eye of Katrina and she landed "only" as a Cat 3.
Think of your past experience as standing near the train tracks. Anyone In the path of the eye of Irma is standing on the tracks of an approaching freight train. GO now.

My grandparents lived in a house on the lake on Carr Dr.
Georges got the water too close for their comfort and they moved shortly after (still in the 'Dell... just much further inland)
Katrina proved them right (old house - gone... new house - ~1 inch of water)
