Do they typically get weaker or stronger when the eye walls merge like that?

They weaken during the process of the second eyewall popping up and squeezing out the old one. Afterwards, it's an opportunity for strengthening and the windfield typically spreads out a little bit too.

If the engine was never ran with water in it then it should be fine
I don't think so. That's salt water. It may be ok if you can do that within a week. Otherwise crank be gone. Rings not so good either. Electronics on engine are screwed. Every connection will corrode within a year.

I just disassembled an engine that was in fresh water. They let it sit too long.

The Turks and Caicos are forecast to be in the northern eyewall.

More memories of places that are about to be crushed. Very low lying islands. God help them if they get a direct hit.

I'm talking about the shitty islands that are nothing outside of the resorts.

Have you been to many Caribbean islands? There are poor people everywhere and how do you imagine these islands without any tourist dollars?

No kidding, my favorite places on earth are St John, Anguilla, T&C, and Eleuthera/Harbour Island.

Watching all of them get crushed is heart breaking
