I'm thinking llike Policemen and the like in Key West.
Just was watching a cop car drive by on the Duval street cam I linked.
LINK
These guys have to be wondering where they can shelter it out, along with firemen and the few people needed to run the airport radars, etc.

TWC talked to some government official on Key West thatcwas staying. He said they had a concrete blockhose rated to 165 and a safe room stronger than that. He seemed pretty calm. And of course thevprisoners in that jail, as someone posted this afternoon.

Is there a chance it could recurve rather than just head due north?

The way Levi described it, the same high that would keep it out of the gulf would be the same high to 'pinwheel' it into South Carolina. His words, not mine.

Looks like the bottom of the instrument panel is about twenty feet in the air so hopefully it will survive round two. Wind speed gauge is 32 feet up.

This sucks so bad...
Almost every time we get a storm on east coast it veers into Atlantic. Those states usually get a glancing blow not something head on.

It's a bad setup for sure. Look at the next frame. This massive, perfect storm is basically just a huge low pressure zone 24 hours after landfall. Amazing that it's just...gone. But it would be a very good thing.

Geez. Hurricane force wind for nearly all of FL, half of GA, and nearly all of SC. If you,re in the building ttades, or a businesss that supplies the construction industry, your economic prospects will be pretty good for the next year or two.

People who were talking about booking hotels in Georgia for evacuation might want a backup plan.

So even Atlanta gets some of it on that run?

I really hope this thing recurves east, lord knows harvey was enough for this season alone.
