It's the north and northeast eyewall where the big winds are. Those poor people might catch a break if they can ride the south side of the eye.

I mean, it's a relative break but you take whatever you get if you're holding on for dear life down there.

Yeah, they're going to get the SW and SE eye wall. We did see sustained winds of 140 mph in the SE eye wall earlier today, so we'll see.

Convection looked a little better on the last two frames. I buy it.

I think it's irresponsible to be telling anyone to try to ride this one out in South Florida

They said they were riding it out. Just trying to get them off their arse and do something instead of moping around.

Beats the north side. Like a kick in the balls is preferable a kick in the balls with the kicker in steel toed boots.

Scary picture. After reading their wiki, it's even more scary considering the land is very flat there

Most people alive have never been through this type of storm that those on the islands are about to deal with.

At night.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck in south fla for this storm, and terribly unprepared. Best case scenario, I am able to move inland a couple miles, but it's still south fla, and the houses are crappy, and we have no shutters, no plywood, no generator, no water, etc. Gonna ride it out, but wish I was more prepared (know I still have several days to find some water and basic supplies).

You aren’t stuck, at all. Hell you could drive out to AZ by the time the storm hits and I would put you two up. Throw your mom in the car and leave in the morning and go somewhere, I guarantee you there are people on here who would put you up and are less than half a days drive. She may bitch and throw a fit but isn’t that WAY better than being stuck with her while the shite hits the fan and in the days/weeks after? I mean if it was my mom she would bitch too but there is no way I would let her stay.
