Up next are Florence and 92L and models trended west with both overnight. The hype with Florence will be unbearable, if the models start seriously showing an East Coast threat.

I just edited my post. To make it a little clearer.
Katrina would have closed schools because it was a hurricane, but I guess 2 people can read one sentence and get 2 meanings.

I still don’t understand people getting pissed about officials taking all necessary precautions even if nothing happens.

NOAA and the media attempting to build every storm into a super storm is why no one takes the warnings seriously.
This warning should have been a large thunderstorm will be moving over central MS...end of story.
The media, sure, but that's not what NOAA is doing.

I saw the Baldwin EMC outage map and it looks pretty good right now. Did you ever lose electricity?
I know OB was without power last night to several homes, but I'm pretty sure nobody in GS/Fort Mortan lost power.

Can someone explain how we had a "Gordon" before a "Florence"?

How's this for an East Coast threat...
6z GFS with the 4th strongest Atlantic hurricane on record right off the eastern seaboard:
0z Euro with a landfalling category 3:

Jesus man. That would likely put it in Cat4/5 territory.

Florence formed way out in BFE before Gordon got his act together.

Florence was named off the coast of Africa. Gordon popped up in the gulf so it hit first

Florence formed before Gordon. And in different locations

GFS also has a depression/TS in southern gulf next weekend heading to South Texas.

I'm not pissed off, I just think that officials and weather "experts" blowing every storm that comes anywhere near out of proportion are a big part of the reason so many people don't react correctly when there is a REAL threat. People get complacent. How long has it been since these people read "The Boy Who Cried Wolf?" The story has a real meaning to it.
