Just checked the camera at home and everything looks good. The wind and rain currently looks light. Haven't heard of any damage in Florence or haven't heard of anything major from friends and family around Florence County other than a decent amount of rain and some power outages.

don't get why what we call our city bothers ppl so much.

, it doesn't really bother me. However, it's a highly localized nickname that leads to confusion in a thread where the vast majority of folks have no clue what it means.

Looks like they flagged that 43.5" in 24 hour reading on the USGS station. Still have a total rainfall amount of 44" in the last 48 hours around Emerald Isle.

Just talked to a friend that lives in columbia. She had never heard of calling it cola. Said you should get your arse kicked for something like that.

Because no one walks around saying "cola". It's just a shorthand way of typing "columbia".

I've only seen Cola used in writing. I've never heard it spoken before.

Yeah nobody really says it. But you'd have to at least be aware of it if you actually live downtown, with all the Soda City shite around town. And the restaurant, Cola's.

It's set up about Wilmington to Jacksonville wrapping around bring more wind to push onshore and the apparent focus to squeeze out a lot of rain. That band is going to be the a focus for heavy rainfall through sunrise.

They are still getting pounded
