My company is headquartered there (one of the largest employers in the city)... Told everyone yesterday not to come back to the office until they get the all clear.

Sounds like an awesome company to work for.

They most likely are safe from serious threat to life... but they are probably going to be miserable for a while.

I know everyone is focused on Florence here, but what’s the scoop on Isaac? If someone were going to Cancun Saturday to Wednesday, would that be bad?

I'm getting down to at least the 4th, 5th, or 6th

I,m only downtown because of my job and will not be here after tomorrow. Hope other Charlestonians get through this with as little pain as possible. Good luck to all!

Jacksonville FL?

There's a huge backup basically from Bluffton to the GA line. Plan accordingly.

I believe that is Long Beach, near Pass Christian line (Pitcher Point). Recognize the geography and can almost make out the linoleum floor that was the only thing left on my parent's slab.

I think the scariest thing was when the sheriff's deputy rolled up at my home to make sure we were evacuating ... "yes ma'am we are". "Good because we won't be answering calls until the storm is over". #yikes

those beach cams just remind you of how people died back before weather forecasting was a thing. Beautiful day out there today. In 2 days all hell will probably break loose. No one would have had a clue 50 to 100 years ago of what was coming.

yeah... first responders will always say once winds hit tropical storm force... they're done... they hunker down until the winds die back down under TS force

in between... you're on your own

Models mostly show it getting shredded into the caribbean but this current run on GFS looks like it has it actually intensifying in the caribbean instead. Could just be an outlier or the start of a trend.
