You know how sometimes when you call out to one of your kids quickly, you use the name of one of their siblings? Interestingly, humans will mix their dog’s name in there sometimes, but not their cat’s name.

I do this... but I don't have a cat. My Sally dog and children's and grandchildren's names get used interchangeably sometimes.

I have kids and dogs.

It's not one versus the other. My kids are grown, educated, married and gone and involved with raising their kids. Our dog is with us all the time. I have enough love to give my kids and grandkids and my dog. And I feel good about it.
