Prove me wrong
People are absolutely addicted to News, and news is constantly pumping negativity, argumentative crap into people’s heads because it sells, and positive stories simply do not. They may end with a positive, folksy, or whimsical piece every now and then, but it’s far from balance.
People are addicted to watching television series which constantly stirs up drama and shite, with personalities that do nothing but try and out smart arse comment the other smart arse comment, keeping things on a very negative level because that’s what we call entertainment. Somebody is always screwing somebody over, cheating, killing, or involved in some underhanded crap.
The movies that are being pumped out are almost all doomsday shite, from the outrageous number of zombie, apocalyptic, end of the world shite where humanity did something to kill themselves off, be it environmental (a real favorite of Hollyweird) or some meteor, alien, monster, etc that comes to exact revenge upon the bad people of earth.
Funny how this was actually brought out in yet another doomsday movie “The Day the Earth Stood Still” where Mr. Wu (alien) was speaking with Klaatu (alien) about how human beings sense their own eminent doom. That was one of the most honest things about humanity I’ve witnessed in a movie in quite some time.
Video games... Same thing
Politics, no middle ground, everyone to their far fringed corners and come out fighting the pure unadulterated evil that the other side represents because they are on the other side of the aisle.
People like to scoff at old TV shows like Leave it to Beaver, Andy Griffith, Father Knows Best, and so many others from that era that depicted an idealistic view of American life, calling it unrealistic and out of step, but is our current “programming” a realistic depiction of the way we really are, or not. Are we shaped by what we digest, or are we simply a mirror image of what is being portrayed?

I was looking forward to reading this until I saw how long it was.

I'm not addicted. If I were, there would no way that I could keep from reading that novel.

Last sentence of second paragraph also applies to the Andy Griffith show.
Prove me wrong.
Prove me wrong.

I realized this during the Jussie Smollett case.

I don't even watch the news or network television much anymore. It's all the same sky is falling shite or injecting politics into entertainment.

You ever noticed when you tell the bland truth about someone, ppl will doubt you but you tell em a spectacular lie about a person and they'll believe that shite forever?
Yeah I know that guy, he's a cool dude.
Them: I dunno, I still don't trust him.
I hear that guy wears women's clothes at night and walks around in high heels.
Them: Holy shite, he's a crossdresser! HAHAHAHAHAAHA!

People are addicted to drama and live in fear.
Social media access has exacerbated the hell out of it.
It's officially a conduit for the ridiculous.

I've noticed it's the same people flipping out over any potential hurricane threat that are losing their minds over coronavirus. Some people just want to find something to worry about.
Or Y2K, Bird Flu, Ebola, etc ad nauseam

Most of this boils down to human beings being horrendous with statistics. Hell, I constantly hear people using the gambler's fallacy.

It's why zombie, horror & apocalypse movies are so popular.
Americans especially love to be frightened by something to offset their boring lives.

only the people who are truly unhappy. they want there to be an asteroid, an epidemic, a holy war; something to change the status quo and put everyone back on a level playing field cause the current system is failing them

Social Media/News Media has made this 10000000000x worse.
People believe anything they see.
People believe anything they see.

It's an ideological feedback loop which progressively dumbs down society, and it's obvious.
