They just put in a bank of 8 Tesla chargers at the new Fremaux shopping development here in Slidell. My guess is our tax dollars paid for it. And good grief, 8 of them? Are there even 8 Teslas owned in Louisiana?
I looked at the chargers real close. There's no card slot for payment. So do people with Teslas get to charge them on somebody else's dime?

Tesla has made some damn good cars so far, but I am not ordering anything sight unseen.
Yeah, from one of the highest rated to one of the least reliable in record time. Damned good. Sure it is.

I passed by the one here in Austin. Talk about a line of people that need to be punched in the mouth. This coming from one that actually likes the vehicles, but some of those people were just fricking terrible.
At one point, as I was waiting for the Peter Millar store to open, a school bus drove past and stopped for a minute or so. After the school bus drove off, a few of the worst offenders clapped and cheered, and said something about diesel...

you realize those tax incentives vanish when a manufacturer delivers their 200,000th car or did you not know that??? So by the time this POS emerges in 2018-2020 who knows how many cars tesla would have delivered by then and how many slots are left below the 200,000 car mark. All these guys pre-ordering tonight clearly don't know that as Tesla is all gimmicks. So no, not every Tesla owner will get that $7500 credit, just the first 200,000 of which 1/4+ are already gone so yes the next 145,000 or so will.

Why would you think that? Tesla pays for the stations since the biggest issue with the adoption of electric cars is the lack of access to charging stations.

The economics on a Tesla, especially at 35k aren't bad, but whatever. I'm not going to keep arguing about this.

Tesla charging stations are free, thats not the issue, imagine you're on a great road trip and you can stop and fill up gas in 5 minutes and be on your way in your internal combustion engine vehicle or you can spend 75 minutes to charge your tesla.....how exciting
LOL Id love to stop for 75 minutes and thats 16x faster than a regular charging station, every few hundred miles on my hipster journey from san fran to austin......so a regular charging station takes 20 hours to load you up with electricity

Tesla supercharging stations charge with up to 120 kW of power, or up to 16 times as fast as public charging stations; they take about 20 minutes to charge to 50%, 40 minutes to charge to 80%, and 75 minutes to 100%

If I bought one, I wouldn't be using it for road trips. I have another car for that. I would be using it in and around Houston where Tesla has thrown down charging stations. Including in my parking garage at work.

Look they're cool if you want to pretend you're saving the environment but lets be real an S550 is 10x the car in every way. The tesla model S is so small, the backseat is awful. The S550 is the epitome of luxury and is the same price.

I work for an oil company. No illusions here, I said I am considering it. The technology inside the car is a much bigger draw for me than anything else.

Lots of stupid people in the world. Nothing new here.

Helps that LA Tesla buyers get between $14,400 and $17,000 in tax rebates after purchasing.

Model year 2018 or 2019 is about the time my current car should be retired,
By then, the tax rebate will be void. :(

Never pumping gas or changing oil sounds awesome.
Posted on 3/31/16 at 7:24 pm to GeorgeTheGreek
your right 5 minutes of pumping gas is way worse than 75 minutes of waiting for your tesla to charge up
Posted on 3/31/16 at 7:26 pm to Street Hawk
The more important question is does it have ludicrous mode?
Posted on 3/31/16 at 7:29 pm to dabigfella
The cars have amazing technology. Anyone who enjoys that type of thing would be interested in owning something as cutting edge as a Tesla. How is wanting to own a Tesla any different than wanting to own a new sports car?

bc everyone that owns a tesla thinks they're doing gods work and saving the world. Here's a study on why electric cars are worse for the environment than regular cars.

Then you have the silliness of things like an hour plus to charge the thing, the fact you're getting hideous SUVs like the Tesla Model X at $150k, and the fact people are waiting in lines to get a car right now that probably won't even have the tax credit being pushed so hard by the manufacturer as a big plus to get 20% off the vehicle and you have my personal annoyance with tesla owners.

Do you drive so much that you can't manage 75 minutes of downtime every (rumored) 300 miles?
