Which will probably be accompanied by a massive tsunami to hit Seattle.

but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to experience one.
sure if you like the feeling of being helpless and not knowing what is going to happen next.

Barely felt it down here.
I was in the Mat-Su when the 7.9 hit in 2002. Pretty scary stuff.
Understand some folks on the Kenai lost homes and the Sterling Hwy split in this one.
Oh no!! That is my old stomping grounds. I have family still in that area. I'm off to make some calls.

Yep, sounds like the Western edge of the Kenai got the worst of it.

People are taking my comment wrong. It's not that I think it'd be fun. It's that I value life experiences, even the bad ones and I am insanely curious about natural disasters. The suspension of the typical, day-to-day is always an interesting experience.

A pic of the Fred Meyers store in Soldotna.
The video in the OP reminds me of memory from Alaska. I used to work in Soldotna managing a store there. One morning I got to work early in the AM and decided to clean the lights (which hung down like the ones in the OP video).
After wiping them off, they were swaying a bit, just as a co-worker came in. She shrieked and freaked out and screamed "Earthquake" while I stood there completely puzzled.
Now I see why she freaked out so badly. Our lights were swaying just like in the OP video. (But ours were swaying because i had just cleaned them).

All that wasted alcohol did bring a tear to my eyes.

I can sense them before I see any shaking. I guess my body is sensitive to slight motions. The first one I was in, I was on the 11th floor of the Sheraton in Downtown Anchorage. The glass building down the road (Phillips) was moving and like an idiot I jumped in the elevator.

Despite the earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tons of snow in the winter, I really miss Alaska. That is one state that I would not hesitate to move to again. I absolutely loved the years I spent there.
Now if I could just convince my husband to spend summers there, I would be overjoyed. All I need is a tiny cabin to live in and I would be completely content there.

Yep, working on the cabin part myself. I've got one, but it's just a getaway. I'm ready to downsize full time.

That sounds so heavenly! I try to explain Alaska to my husband, how beautiful and amazing it is there. But it is just something that you have to experience in person to be able to fully appreciate it.

Get him up here one summer. If he's an outdoors type, it's heaven. I plan on buying near Haines, AK
