What makes you say that? There are many things that go into a planet's atmosphere with size being only one of them.

I think the greater immediate concern for me would be crushing gravity (from the mass of the planet, not the atmosphere).

ETA: I couldn't keep reading...it roadblocked me

Maybe if you didn't skip leg day you wouldn't have to worry about that.

Space is amazing. And I believe there has to be life out there just based on the sheer size. But being light years away...we may never know.

Why does no one question whatever NASA "discovers". Just like thousands of other industries, to stay in business they have to find something to promote the narrative. Not saying it is not true but some of the things they announce is like wild guesses as who can prove them wrong??

In a first for astronomers studying worlds beyond our solar system, data from the Hubble Space Telescope have revealed water vapor in the atmosphere of an Earth-size planet. Although this exoplanet orbits a star that is smaller than our sun, it falls within what’s known as the star’s habitable zone, the range of orbital distances where it would be warm enough for liquid water to exist on a planet’s surface. The discovery, announced this week in two independent studies, comes from years of observations of the exoplanet K2-18b, a super-Earth that’s about 111 light-years from our solar system. Discovered in 2015 by NASA’s Kepler spacecraft, K2-18b is very unlike our home world: It’s more than eight times the mass of Earth, which means it’s either an icy giant like Neptune or a rocky world with a thick, hydrogen-rich atmosphere.

This whole excerpt struck me funny.

The begin by saying, "Hey, it probably has water and is pretty similar to Earth."

Then at the end, they say "Naw, man. frick that. It's just a giant block of ice or rock."

Ahh. Just as the JWST is about to launch. Seems like someone else is positioning for a new contract. Good move, Hubble.

But if people live there, they could come to earth and simply jump into space.

Very interesting discovery, but at 8x Earth’s mass, that atmosphere is going to be thicker than Venus

That's thick

Need to hurry up and do it, since earth will be dead in less than 12 years.

Too bad it will take 100 years at the speed of light to get there...
