KABUL, Afghanistan — A deadly earthquake hit northern Afghanistan and Pakistan on Monday, afternoon, registering a preliminary magnitude of 7.5 and causing heavy damage in one of the world’s most impoverished and war-torn regions.
At least 122 people were reported killed, with 100 or more of them in Pakistan, and that figure seemed likely to rise significantly, officials in both countries said.

To be fair, it is their fault.

And by not building any infrastructure, they've mitigated their damage.
Crazy like a fox...

South Asia, where the Indian tectonic plate collides with the Eurasian plate, has a history of devastating earthquakes. In April, more than 8,700 people were killed in Nepal’s worst earthquake in 80 years. And in 2005, tens of thousands were killed in a 7.6 magnitude earthquake centered in the Kashmir region.

No, they are known for terrorists

They will blame Americans
Well according to many Americans, Americans are responsible for 98% of global warming, which is the root cause of 96% of all earthquakes.

Unfortunately based on the map above, the epicenter is neither in Taliban controlled areas in Afghanistan nor near Waziristan, which is the main hub of terrorist activity in Pakistan. So the good guys probably took a hit.

Local probably didn't even notice. They just figured it was more bombing.

I find things like this to be fascinating. The continent to continent convergent plate boundary is what builds the mountains. As the pressure approaches the breaking point or brittle deformation point a slip occurs along a fault sending massive shocks throughout the region.
Equally as impressive is in areas like East Africa. A rift zone has created linear seas and lake chains where the continent has begun ripping apart.
Plate tectonics is the keystone for modern geology, and it explains everything. Earthquakes, volcanoes, island arcs, hot spots, mantle plums, magma formation, continental drift and sea floor spreading.
