I know I’m talking about 20 years ago - but have you ever worked in downtown NOLA during the Essence Fest?

I live in the Warehouse District and aside from some function at the Jonathan Ferrara gallery on Julia that clogged the streets with traffic for a few hours it’s been otherwise quiet. Much better than when there’s a hip hop concert at Republic and the idiots drag race down Julia as they leave at 4 in the morning.

Left for Biloxi Friday morning, coming back Tuesday evening. I do this every ‘Essence Weekend’ and I suggest you do the same.

Do you live on bourbon street? If so this makes sense.

Otherwise I’m in City Park right now. Can confirm it’s wet, little humid, people appear to be recreating, cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria.

They obviously hired people to handle the digital displays based solely on meritocracy

Great time to go to a restaurant. You’ll have the wait staff fighting over serving you once they see you. You’ll get the cream of the crop wait staff.

Essence crowd isn't too bad. It's the hoodrat locals that flock to the French Quarter/CBD during these types of events who ruin everything.

Restaurant owners close to avoid the hassles and having their staff bust their butts for zero tips. The crowd that comes in may have a little money but they’re still garbage to deal with.
