Step 1: Make 40” x 60” frame
Step 2: Unroll print
Step 3: Realize print actually 40.5” x 59.6”
Step 4: Frick it, it’s a nature scene the ridges look more natural.

This is the better view of El Capitan and Yosemite Valley.

Find a local frame shop. The big box stores don’t take nearly as much attention to detail as the small shops. If you’re in BR, guy on Perkins and Essen is prob best in south LA and very reasonably priced as compared to others.

Definitely wrap the frame in natural denim to complete the rugged outdoor look as a compliment to the scenery.

Probably the best view of my life came from the top of El Capitan. If I was local and had the balls I would do Half Dome.

You got your kid a huge, high def picture of a rock he’ll be obligated to hang in his room?

Lucky kid

Kinda old school but...find a nice frame shop around you and go there and ask them.

They’re a lot more like a Home Depot than you’d think. Knowledgeable people with ideas that can help.

I emailed one, we’ll see if they use that account.

Yea, no doubt. I just don’t know what dry mounting means, and if I want that big of a piece of glass in my sons room. Bee cool to mount and laminate.

Dry mounting just means to adhere the print to a thicker base for support. Prevents puckers, wrinkles, bubbles.

If this is going in a kid's room, plexiglass all the way.

Not sure what your budget is but be prepared to pay for a frame that size, even if you DIY. I want to frame something that needs a 40x40 frame but the cost is more than 2.5 times the cost of a 36x36 frame.

No way I’m doing that.

Definition of dry mounting

: a method of attaching photographic prints to a support by means of a thermoplastic tissue treated with shellac and the application of heat and pressure

Nah, you got that.

ETA: Didnt realize some douche canoe bumped a year old thread.

This. ^^^

I do framing as a hobby, and I’m normally big on fancy hand-cut multi-layer matting. But on something that large, a relatively thin gunmetal frame with no matting is the perfect way to go.
