Every generation has its obstacles. They'll figure out a way so that society can make it.
An absolute requirement for this is that the world governments quit encouraging laziness and punishing hard workers.

Boomers got a super charged economy with the post-WW2 globalism, Millennials will have the demise of that system
This has been dead since 1985 when the boomers voted for nafta to get rid of American manufacturing so they could pay 50 cents less for a t shirt

I make pretty good money and its hard for me to get ahead. About to live like Dave Ramsey suggests for a year and pay off one of our cars

Yep. You millenials have it easy, you’ll never believe how muddy it was at Woodstock for us boomers. And then we had to save up 15k for a house

Buying new vehicles and new houses has always hindered people trying to “get ahead”. If they avoid these things they will probably get ahead just like you did.

Lol You can’t compare 1996 $30k to today. It’s not even remotely the same. And here in lies the problem
My point was a kid bagging groceries now makes the same as I did with my first real job so it’s all relative. A kid now with a similar degree can make close to 3 times that depending on the field.

Many are voting for this so, they gonna learn.
Those that aren't, God Bless em.

Govt is phasing out ownership of everything slowly and methodically.
We will get to the "you will own nothing and be grateful" place. It won't happen in my lifetime, but it is coming.

Is this the thread where millennials will come make excuses and play the victim card?

There are videos on how to do it or you can just ask a gay dude.

That’s like 250k now and that same job still pays 30k today
Not even close. Maybe $80k or so equivalent and that’s not a stretch now for a kid with a similar degree depending on how hard they look.

But I walked out of Wal Mart last night with three bags of groceries that cost over $60
Were those the size of popcorn bags? What did you buy that three bags of groceries were only $60? ONE bag for my usually costs at least $60.

We won't. It's kind of demoralizing to finally claw your way into jobs that pay well, only to realize the real estate market is one gigantic shite show. Trying to find schools that are halfway decent near any major city is an act of futility.
It's difficult at times to keep the nihilism at bay.

Nominally, making this comment entirely irrelevant. Accounting for inflation of 92% over that time span, that equates to almost $58,000 today.
A kid making $15/hour today is equivalent, to a kid making $8/hour in 1996.

My first job out of college was $30k back in 1996. A kid bagging groceries at Publix makes $15/hr now. Do the math.
Tell me you don't know what the hell you're talking about without telling me.
You do know that $15 hourly is just a shade over $30k and that $30k in 1996 had almost double the purchasing power as $30k today does, right?

I made like $50K my first real job in 2000 and thought I was rich

They can start going drag, set up Instagram accounts and get sponsors like Bud Light.

Hey kids, you can’t own a home or a vehicle, but you can burden yourself with six figures of student debt for a job in the gig economy where you’ll earn $15 per hour with no benefits! Hope you don’t get sick, medical debt is a bitch!

When’s the last time you looked for a job? There are not a ton of high paying jobs being offered out there. And a degree doesn’t really mean anything anymore.
