Which is why some of us cherish our unedited copies of Blazing Saddles. And some of us have the total copy when
a Germanic female voice in the dark asks,
"Is it twoo what dey say about you schwartzers?"

silence, silence, silence

"It's twoo, it's twoo."

As I watched all I could think to myself was that this was (and still is) a popular show and that these jokes and this story line and this blatant portrayal of life choices that make one fat would never be shown on TV today
What are you talking about? They still do all that same shite with fat jokes in today's sitcoms.

Lots of them.
Jaws
Airplane
Logans run
Invasion of the body snatches
Lots of pg movies did.

PG: Romeo and Juliet (1968)- Breasts, Olivia Hussey. She was 16 so add pedophile to the list.

Archie Bunker was my granddad's hero. That Archie was supposed to be the bad guy didnt register with him.

There was an interview with Carroll O'Connor (the actor that played Archie Bunker) where he talked about how when he took the part he was absolutely certain the viewers would hate his character (O'Connor was a big liberal) and he was shocked and perplexed at how the character become the fan favorite.

from the Logan's run IMDB

During the chase scene, the main characters end up in a place called "The Love Shop" where citizens of the city come for orgies. As can be expected, there is both male and female full-frontal nudity.

When the two escapees are outside they strip and skinny dip. They swim around each other and the woman's breasts are visible, and their buttocks also come into view when they dive under the water.

Later on, the characters strip during a scene in a cave. The womans breasts and buttocks can be seen.

Mike and Molly

An entire show where one of the main themes was the fat couple, with constant fat jokes.

This is true even for many more recent TV shows.

I've been watching Scrubs again when I want something in the background. Zach Braff is a super progressive guy and I imagine he was then as well (Scrubs run was from 2001-2008)

They have a TON of jokes centered around gay people/calling people gay, racial stereotypes, addicts, ugly people, etc.... Hell the longest running joke on the show is Dr. Cox calling JD girls names and telling him he's not a man because he does girly stuff.

A ton of that stuff is "taboo" today

Gonna have to strongly disagree with you on that one. Aniston was gorgeous on friends.

It shouldn't be. People just started getting more upset when they were the butt of a joke. My rule is if you can't laugh at yourself then you can't laugh at anyone else. I like to think the majority of jokes I make to my friends are about the dumb things I do/get myself into. People need to understand that if people make a joke at your expense it isn't really serious and they aren't actually out to make sure your life is a living hell. Being able to laugh at yourself is a lost quality today. People are so self serious. It's annoying really.

I did, because I was curious since I was born in the 80s. I wasn't arguing. The topic is about TV and they are now using the F word and showing actual boobs on TV. That has changed in the last 20 years.
