You don't go there for the margaritas or the food. You go there to be seated in the front room and to be SEEN!

They didnt include sending your kids to St. Pius, Cathedral, Fatima, or STM. (Source: Lafayette native and current resident with kids at Fatima)

Or going to that shitty Mexican restaurant for margaritas

If you're talking about La Fonda, that place was ridiculously packed with wanna-be fancies but damn their margaritas were the perfect pre-game drink.

If you wanna get Lafayette fancy, go to Acadiana mall, find Buckle & Express. Buy whatever overpriced button down you can that'll absorb the axe body spray. Get you some hair gel to help the New Iberia haircut stick just right on your forehead. Get the lifted truck washed up but not TOO washed up because you don't wanna come off like a city baw especially when you end the night at Cowboys.

You also have to belong to the right clubs, at least three:

Petroleum Club
City Club
Le Triomphe Golf Club
Oakbourne Country Club

There may be no better way to elevate your social status in Lafayette than by being on a Mardi Gras float.

Didn't do much for mine.

Lack of Affliction and white oakleys leaves this ambiguous at best

ETA: because both/either would have made this deadly serious

Gotta work out at Red’s gym
Hang out at Reve Coffee Roasters
Send your middle school aged kids to Fatima or Cathedral
Send your high school aged kids to St. Thomas Moore
Attend mardi gras balls
Ride in a float or Have tickets to the King’s Tent at mardi gras
Have the exact same furniture, window treatments, plates, silverware, glassware, and clothing brands as everyone else (and update it all every two years)
Have platinum edition F-150 for dad (or hs age son)
Have Mercedes Benz or BMW SUV for mom (or college aged daughter)
Slum it at judice Inn ironically
Drink at Corner Bar
Dress up to zydeco dance at feed & seed or slammin salmon
Dress like a hippy at Festival Acadiane

Oakleys and Affliction isn’t a Laffy thing anymore. That’s a Broussard/Youngsville/New Iberia/Crowley thing. Confusing them with the prissy Lafayette bourgeoisie is like confusing LP/AP baws with the BR inRegister crowd.
