Cliff bars for the plane to help stave off hunger during connections. Really filling and will help avoid the 5 Guy's airport meal. If you have to eat in the airport stick to salads.
if you're traveling for work then dinners will be your toughest meal so make every other meal count healthy eating wise. To help with healthy eating at dinner time (with client's etc.) eat something in the hotel ahead of time to curb your appetite. Again i go for cliff bars or fruit - that way you aren't hungry when you get to the restaurant and can eat an appetizer/salad for you dinner.

An Airbnb will be cheaper than a hotel and have a full kitchen. Reach out to some owners on there

Airports are full of healthy options now, get a room with a fridge and microwave then hit the grocery store, dont eat out. Also helps if the hotel has a fitness center with a treadmill.
I can usually do that for 4 or 5 days then I say frick it and eat what I want.

If you have a fridge, you can do it. Even if you have long days, you can meal prep.

I travel exclusively for work. It most certainly can be done. Not that I do it all the time. I stay in Hampton Inns ND they usually have a grill. I'll grill 2 bags of chicken breast at the beginning of the week and a bunch of veggies. The breakfast in the lobby always has fruit, nuts, yogurt and oatmeal.
The biggest thing that will draw me to eat Shitty food is getting bored and wanting to get out of the room.
But, it most certainly can be done.

Yeah, not my call unfortunately. Would prefer Airbnb.
I'm thinking cliff bars/protein shakes/cold cuts/almonds and nuts/salads

Even most fast food places have salads today. It is not that hard to do.

Pantera Bread, the grill at Whole Foods, oatmeal and fruits for breakfast
None of those are healthy.

Solid idea on the grill. Do most hotels have grills?

You don't see these two bands in the same sentence often

Many do. When they don't I'll buy a cheap Charcoal grill and have the hotel store it with the outside stuff. You can get them for $30.

Travelling for work for a month or two with a per diem. Is there any possible way to eat somewhat healthy?
do they not have salads or grilled/baked meats where you're going?

Most produce doesn't need to be refrigerated so stock up on apples, bananas, avocados, oranges, and stuff to put on salads, etc.
Toast or bagel and nut butter topped with fruit in the morning, etc.

No. You eat like a fat lazy slob while gone and deal with the consequences when you get back.
