How should we define light or intermittent smoking? Does it matter?
We’ve heard the statistics for years about the dangers of smoking and second hand smoke. Lung, mouth, and heart cancer among other ailments from smoking. I would imagine the definition of a smoker is close to if not more than a pack a day.

Where does this leave the situational smoker? You know, the one that craves a cigarette for certain occasions. For instance, on the beach, at a bar after a couple drinks or on the golf course.

Is there that much danger in smoking 2-3 packs a year or whatever the amount comes out to? I feel that if you’re literally not smoking every single day and enjoy an occasional smoke, what’s the real harm?

I know of more people that never touched a cigarette or smoked that ended up with some sort of cancer.

What is your policy on smoking Paul?

I like all of my staff to refrain from it in my presence. I find it a tawdry vice if im being honest.

Yeah, they exist. A cigar is great, but sometimes I don’t want to commit to a 30-45 minute smoke.

I feel that some people treat smoking so black and white. Either you’re an addict that smokes 1-2 packs a day or you don’t smoke at all. Where’s the moderation here?

Our facilities are smoke free as of 2014. I know my employees are smoking when they get into their vehicles.

Fantastic. Had to let a driver go last summer for smoking in one of the bulletproof Escalades. Silly Ramon. I hear NIH signed him up and he’s driving a cargo van these days.

I think you just might be around self absorbed a-holes who judge and say something.

If it's something you do occasionally, then do it.

The people who judge have just as many trashy/negative habits.

However, you don't have to smoke to get lung, mouth or heart cancer. It could happen regardless of smoking. I'd say you're probably increasing your odds by smoking. But someone could smoke their whole life, 2 pks a day and never get cancer or die young.

When a Cuban can handroll golden south Carolina tobacco like I do, I'll buy it.

The intake form at a Cancer Center I went to asked "How many cigarettes have you smoked?"

Not how long, not how many packs- how many individual cigarettes.

I found that pretty impactful.

I was there cause a dr freaked out over my unusually high Vit B12 levels, didn't have cancer. Turns out I have a B12 binding gene.

I don't consider myself a smoker but I will smoke a cigarette or two if I'm outside at a crawfish boil/beach/bar drinking and someone offered one up. I might have 10 cigarettes a year, if that.

Probably half that amount with cigars, but I taste the cigar way more in my mouth for the next 24 hours and I find it unpleasant. With cigarettes, a quick tooth brushing removes the aftertaste.

I smoke like five packs a year. I can't imagine my risk for cancer is much higher than a non smoker.
