I work with software developers every day so I have aptitude for technical stuff, and I met briefly one guy who had the exact job of one of the positions the job and he was a music major.....

I’m thorough but I don’t think mathematically....

It was a family business for these folks-

I've messed around with just some very basic coding. It seemed pretty intuitive and logical for me. I think it's one of those things that's easy to pick up the basics, but the ceiling in terms of skill level is sky high. My general impressions at least.

I learned C++ when I was around 15 years old.

I say that not to brag, but to let you know that if 15 year old me can make video games as a hobby, you can learn to make scripts for your job.

Not that hard if you have the right mind for it. If you can program in one language you can in any. Just takes learning the syntax. How fast you are and your troubleshooting skills is what makes you good or bad.

I understand that it’s theorem based as you add variables. I think I could be very good at some aspects of it because I am thorough. I have designed functionality for systems before.

Python is really easily to learn. It's all the add ons that will take time.

It's takes a certain type of person to code and do and good job.

You have to be strong in logic and be slightly ocd to be good.

Learn standard coding practices, indentations rules etc. and be sure to always comment the hell out of your code.



My best recommendation is code academy.

I know C++/R/SAS/Ruby/Matlab/Fortran/winbugs

Took me grad school to learn SAS/Fortran, one semester undergrad to learn Matlab, self taught myself R in a couple of months, same with C++...

Took me a year or so for winbugs.
