I was a fast caucasian kid in the late 80s and early 90s.

Spent a lot of time outside riding a bike and active. If I was a kid nowadays, I doubt it would be the same.

Only time I was indoors was saturday mornings and when it was time to eat. Night time was when I got my NES in. Paperboy, river city ransom, metal gear, contra, mario 3, punch out, etc.

I played on a football team that didn't lose a game from fifth grade until our sophomore year, won district junior and senior years in hs, won district in basketball and baseball our senior year, I don't have any tangible proof(in the way of participation trophies,) that any of that ever happened, just yearbooks and a couple of certificates from the local newspapers and the LHSAA that I don't even know where they are

Might I remind you that the POTUS doesn't have the firmest grasp on the English language either, and he's doing pretty well for himself !!

My kids play outside every day, and I see tons of teenagers playing football all the time.

Kids going outside will never be extinct

that's a rare sighting where I live, you couldn't hardly get us to come inside when I was a kid, now if we see some kids playing a pickup game of some sort outside it's like "wow, did you see that?"

Yep, hated being indoors. We ran the neighborhood constantly. Some parents would actually lock their kid da out of the house.

Ski School, first grade.

I refused to go up to the podium to accept it.

I was so ashamed.

Never received the first one. Participation trophies were not used in the 60's and 70's.

That said, there are around 25 or so participation trophies that my son left when he moved out after college. He had no use for them then nor now.

I guess I'll just box them up and bring to Goodwill.

Is your first name Clint? Did you go to John Curtis in the mid-to-late 90s?

We didn't have that shite in the late 70's/early 80's. If your arse sucked you sat. We didn't bat 13 players, or play with 4 OFers. If you were subbed out you didn't go back in. Straight MLB rules.

No it fricking hasn’t.

I grew up in the 70’s. There was first place trophies and maybe 2nd and third.

Kids should be insulted to get a participation trophy. If I had kids and they got one, it would go in the trash.
