Neither was mine. My dad was just the opposite.

Which is another reason I want to kiss my son as long as I can... just so he knows.

I don't have any kids yet, but I'll never be too old to give my dad a kiss on the cheek. Even during my teen years, when other kids might laugh, I never stopped being affectionate towards my father. One day I hope I'm half the father that he was to me and my siblings.

My Dad will very occasionally still do it honestly. It's about once every 2 or 3 years, and typically when alcohol is involved, but it still happens on rare occasions.

Thanks, Nawlins. I choose not to post. Love this site, but felt it appropriate to post here. As a father of four and three sons, I find it incredibly insane that any father can question his masculinity for the simple act of showing affection towards his child. That is your boy. You love him and you kick his arse when he needs it. You raise your children to your values, but you sure as hell should not be ashamed to show them affection.

Still kiss my boy. I get him to kiss me on the mouth. He's four. When he isn't cool with it he can tell me. I don't see why people get weird about a man kissing his on children. People just like to make bullshite out of something that is completely natural.

Mouth to mouth is fricking weird. Never done that with either parent, as far as I'm aware.

This is the same relationship between my dad and his father. My grandfather was not all that different from Tywin Lannister. He was intense, emotionless, never smiled, and was honestly pretty emotionally brutal to my dad. They had times where they wouldn't talk for years due to the fact that my dad was not the son he wanted. So my dad was determined that our relationship be the opposite, and I'm lucky it has been. I talk to my dad every single day, and he's one of my best friends. My dad however is incredibly reluctant to talk about his father to this day, and I see very few relicts of his father around the house, while I see a lot of his mother's.

Well, just tonight former UFC champion Frank Mir kissed his trainer on the mouth on national television in front of a roided out crowd.

Get over yourselves.

You go to Bourbon Street to pick up nasty hookers, I don't think I'd take parenting advice from you.

Just a kiss on the cheek before going to bed. Nothing too big.

I'm not saying that my dad was exactly like this but he was known to be the tough and emotionless one amongst his siblings/relatives. It was hard to gauge my father's feelings from his expressions. One thing I want for my son is for him to never have to question my feelings towards him. I guess I'd rather kiss him and embarrass him than have him wonder if I cared enough to do so.

I'll say this much.. this thread did not go as I expected .
