There is no hassle. Just have to log in from my phone and move money if it becomes necessary.
To get the extra interest you would have to time your overdrafts.

I just keep a minimal amount in the lower interest bearing account.
It is minimal amount of accrued interest, but it is more than just putting it all in checking.
Also, keeps me from someone emptying my checking account through fraud.

$3k on an engagement ring is nothing.

I'm poor and I've still never overdrafted. It's not that complicated.

It is something when you're consistently going negative on your account

Well yeah that's what everyone should do but that's not what we're talking about. I keep pretty much what I think I'll spend in a week in checking and the rest in savings. I usually have an idea in my head about what I've spent that week and if I feel close then I'll check before buying something. If I don't have enough it takes like two seconds to transfer it over. But I never overdraft.

This is what I'm saying. Over drafting has nothing to do with rich or poor. You should never get charged an overdraft fee especially with the banking apps out there that let you transfer funds in seconds.

If this is a true post, I am having a hard time figuring out how you were able to purchase a 3K engagement ring with no money in your bank account. I am generally assuming you opened up another credit card and through it all 3K on there because its 0 percent interest for x amount of time damn well knowing you don't make enough to cover that time frame. Then more than likely you will retroactively dump 19% APR on that purchase once you don't make the time cut. At that point the best thing for you to do would be to open another 0% card and transfer the balance. Your credit score isn't going to look to pretty.

Is this why you were asking about the 'couch' situation a few weeks back?
What did y'all ever come up with on that sperm filled sofa?

Seems impossible to overdraft these days with online banking. You can check your balance on your smartphone.
I thought so too. I had went and paid rent with a check on Thursday, was getting paid Thursday at midnight. So I was all good. Nope, Land Lord went and cashed the check that afternoon, funds come out immediately, bank pays the check, I get charged $35.
Never have I had a check go through the same day, I even post dated it, but apparently they do now. So I got screwed.
