How often do you check your blood pressure?

On 10mg Lisinopril and usually take it every day. Most every morning it’s perfect, though there are some evenings where it can spike to 140-150/80 on the first reading. Then go down to 120s/80.

Have lost about 40 lbs, as hoping to lose around 20 more and get off of it eventually. I probably check my BP too often. In my head a high number means an acute problem, when in reality it’d probably have to be that number for years constantly.

How does the OT go about monitoring their BP?

Mine has been spiking recently and I have seen it as high as 190/110 but most times it is 130/80. Working on the diet and definitely could lose some weight.

I guess in the morning it should be lower.

Make sure your arm is at heart level. If it's below your bp will be higher and if it's too high it'll be lower.

Keep your bicep at the level of your heart, so place your forearm on an armrest. Wait until 3-5 minutes after sitting to check it. Don't talk while the machine is measuring.

Not good. If you aren't certain you can lose weight then see your doctor. Even if you lose weight, you still may have hypertension.

Whenever I go to the doctor or have to wait around at the pharmacy for longer than 5 mins.

20 minute appointment with a doc and he’ll give you a pill. It’ll be back to normal range in a few hours. You’ll feel great. Don’t wait.

You happy with that? I know some doctors are, especially in 50+ year olds. They only changed the guidelines 3 years ago. Most everywhere except the US looks at anything below 140 as only prehypertension

Yeah, I always check it in my work from home desk chair and rest my arm on the arm rest. Almost never wait 5 minutes though.

Last night at like 6:30, first reading was 147/80 -pulse 78. Second reading one minute later 126/79 - pulse 80. Makes no sense sometimes

My doc told me to take it 3 times. Take deep breaths and relax between each reading. Said that your first reading will always be the highest bc your heart is beating faster and you’re more anxious

I'm 64. The doc is happy with it. I could drop about 25 pounds and leave the salt alone though. I walk at least an hour a day at a fast pace.
