How often do grocery stores clean the buggies that we use to carry our food?

Partriculary the seat area where non-potty trained children in diapers were sitting. That same area where loosely sealed packages of bread are often placed by other shoppers.

Does the blazing sun in the parking lot corral kill bacteria?

Never. It's good for your immune system.

However often it rains while they're left outside.

They don't clean those damn buggies. And no one knows how long they sit in the sun. Clorox wipes are your friend.

I worked in a grocery store from the day I turned 16 until I graduated college.

Not once were the buggies cleaned.

So that should answer your question.

There was an episode on a news network covering this.

Long story short - never place exposed food in a cart. All fruits and veggies should be bagged. Wash hands after using cart and before handling food when putting up groceries at home.

The rain washes and the sun disinfects.

shite particles are on everything you touch. You can meticulously clean your basket with bleach everytime you go to the store and that bag of bread or that tomato you put in a bag will still have shite particles on them from being handled by other people as well as yourself. The only thing you can do to limit your consumption of shite is to never leave your house and produce you own food. That way you will only be eating your own shite.

Buggies are pretty clean.

There’s a big buggy wash, it’s a small car wash in the back of every store. Most stores run them through daily but a good bit do it multiple times a day.
