Funny you should mention Albasha, it might be one of the cheaper joints in BR. We got takeout there and split the combo dinner plate and a stuffed bell pepper. Was right at 25 bucks.
I do agree a lot of places have gotten out of control.

Last time I was in BR I went to lunch at Serops on Perkins and got the chicken shawarma lunch plate. It was more than $20 after tip. It had been a long time since I’ve eaten there so I was surprised when I got the bill.

since we're on the topic, what places do my fellow residents of new orleans consider to be a good value for takeout?

Granted, two beers damn near doubles the cost of the bill. But what am I supposed to have with my burger? Iced tea? Over my dead body. You drink the iced tea.
This is an big issue and always has been. People think McDonalds or whatever is expensive but they only get the Big Mac combo.
And alcohol prices are straight insane. That more than anything else has led to me and my wife going on far less dinner dates

We get that maybe twice per month. The Chimes boatload, Willie's seafood stuffed potato, Chick-fil-A cobb salad. We've discovered a bunch of stuff we can just split for under $25-30 when we don't feel like cooking.
We don't usually have kids at home though. The youngest was home Friday night and takeout burgers for 3 was about $50.

Last time I went a bottle of high life was $4.25

$20 is pretty standard for your local taco/pizza/burger/BBQ place these days.
It can be, but it all depends on where you look. When you eat out a lot like I do, I know that I can't sustain paying 20 every dinner. So you don't just look at the "big name" places and start exploring more.
For instance, for me I found a place where I can get a burrito, an enchilada, beans and rice and chips and salsa for under 12 bucks (before tax). It's near my place, can grab it be and be back home in 15 or so minutes. If you're not just throwing a pot of pasta on the stove, you're often spending around 12 bucks a person making dinner anyways.

I don’t spend any where near this, probably not even half and I eat like 12 ounces of protein, typically beef for every meal

Why are you spending $50 a piece on cocktails every time you go out?
That’s my problem
I went sit at the bar last night and had two old fashions and a piece of cheesecake…..$70

I eat out 4-5 times a week. Duel income no kids with a 2.7% mortgage is the only reason why we do it so much.

The markup on booze is insane. That beer probably cost them 50 cents.

Wholesale booze prices don’t really differ from retail, which is part of the reason it’s so expensive

4.25 sounds like a great deal to me. Where I live, that's gonna cost like 5-6 bucks. It's ridiculous and honestly.

Dining out?
Four-seven times a week.

Blaming “poor service” is so lazy. Unless someone forgets your order or spills something on you service is almost always passable. If you have terrible communication skills it’s in you

Maybe once a week or less.
Not for financial reasons and Houston is abundant in amazing food. More because I'm old, I'm tired, and most days it just seems easier to make my own martini and cook a steak on the ol' cast iron.
I don't order food in anymore either and this IS because of the cost. Food isn't as good as dine in and costs 2X after all the fees and surcharges. Just because I can afford to, doesn't mean I like being ripped off.
I'm a decent cook (crawfish etouffee on the stove now for the game later) my husband makes wood fired pizza better than any I've had in the city.
When we do go out it is more for entertainment purposes. I like craft cocktails (I'm a chick so don't call me gay) and I enjoy being in a beautiful space and people watching (see previous comment). Usually dining out is a fall back if there are no bands playing nearby.

I agree. Don’t know the last time I had this type of terrible service that is talked about in this thread. And my family eats out every lunch and dinner during the week and at least two breakfasts.

Every Friday we have date night at a local restaurant that we’ve been wanting to try or with a solid standby option of Chili’s.
