Yep. I still go every now and then (once or twice a month) because my wife enjoys it. I don't like it. Always expensive, service can be a crapshoot, food is never anything spectacular.

Even on some extravagant work trips, service and food quality can still be a crapshoot. It just isn't worth it to me. If not for wife and work, I'd never eat out.

We never cook at home. Family probably eats out 15ish meals a week. Don’t even want to know what we spend ??

ETA: and yes, I’m a fat arse

It honestly depends on how many games, etc. we have during the week.

We go out maybe 2-3 nights a month strictly out of convenience. Pizza or Raisin Canes…. Nothing expensive really.wife and dropped a few hundred earlier this month on drinks and dinner at Churrascos but that is pretty rare.

I’d say four times a week. Very expensive. Life is just busy. Kids

I don’t know that bad or different service has happened to me one time since this trope started.

Guess what, service at Popeyes has been shitty for 30 years, that ain’t new

We get takeout almost every Friday evening. My wife and I both usually eat out for lunch about once or twice per week. We might go sit in a restaurant maybe once per month.

Not a money thing, the quality of food in restaurants is rarely better than we can do at home.

This is the main reason the wife and I generally stay in to eat. We mainly head out for sushi or head to "Da Parish" for a visit to Rocky & Carlo's for a po-boy and some mac & cheese to bring home.

She will go out with some of her lady friends from time to time and come home and tell me what they had and will almost always say what I cook at home beats the hell out of what she just paid good money for in a restaurant.

I'm retired and living on a fixed income, so money can be an issue, especially with many places hitting $100+ for dinner for 2------and that's not your top line restaurants either.

Hardly ever for stuff I can make at home.

When we got out to eat it's usually for sushi, to try a new ethnic cuisine or for a celebration like an anniversary or birthday.

Yeah, after drinks, dinner is always around $200. And it really doesn’t matter where it’s at it runs about the same. It’s double what it used to be before Covid.

A more than decent dinner is in the $30-$50 range. Why are you spending $50 a piece on cocktails every time you go out?

You can complain about prices when you are doubling your bill with drinks

It’s a staple in these threads. I figure it’s just a “if you met one a-hole, you met an a-hole. If you met a bunch of assholes you’re the a-hole” situations

Also they are better chefs than any restaurant and it’s way easier to make everything from scratch at home

Drinks are usually at least $15 a piece. After tip, that’s ever $100 for the wife and I right there. Stuff adds up nowadays

Not complaining just saying it has double over the last few years
