She should have ended with announcing Friday was Hawaiian Shirt Friday.

She should have said, “no one, including me and the rest of executive leadership, is getting a bonus, either”
But then she would have been lying

I have no idea about the bonus structure at this company and who did or did not get one.
But it's perfectly normal for different segments of a company, from sales, to middle management to the executive level to have completely different bonus structures and triggers.
If there was some dishonesty about the bonus payouts, then she deserves all the shite she is getting. But if this is a case of people not qualifying for a bonus, even if the CEO did qualify, that's just whiny bitches.
Her bonus could've been tied to the stock price or some other measure and the sales/management could've been very specific sales goals and targets (obviously this is just hypothetical)

The attitude was shitty when she still took her 1.2M bonus.
The Twitter machine says she took a $6M+ bonus.
fricking yikes. I’m sorry but women in leadership positions come off so passive aggressive and catty frequently like this lady. That whole smile while taking to shite to me to make me forget my bonus while you get yours is pretty fricking par for the course. Then capped off with that shitty, “thank you….”

While the employees may just be whiny bitches... ultimately it is the employees providing the work that results in her earning her bonus.
So, like others have said, it's tone deaf.
She's basically saying, work harder if you want the bonus, overcome the things we can't control if you want the bonus... but my bonus is still good...
Now, the workers can decide, if they want to work for a different company or not.

Did she qualify for it? Did she withhold bonuses from those that did qualify?
Serious question. I don't know the answer, but it matters in this discussion.

Great leaders give up their bonuses in these situations.
She didn't, I guess. Says a lot.

Who else wanted to put their fist through the screen and the end with her "boom"...
What a count...
What a count...

A bonus is not guaranteed especially in tough times. People are too damn entitled.
I agree in principle but the problem is that bonuses have a funny way of never materializing and they should really only be for people who have DiRECT influence on revenue or expenses. Like sales or marketing.
Doing “bonuses” for people like the accounting team has never made any sense. It’s just a way to claw back part of the salary they would otherwise be paid.

This woman is probably some screeching liberal wackjob and I probably would hate her in real life, but I have no issues with anything she said.
You want a bonus, earn your fricking bonus. Soft motherfrickers.

You would think this would have helped her employees earn their bonuses.
Herman Miller's Andi Owen signs CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion™ Pledge
quote:
"We've always believed in the power of diversity and aspire to be an inclusive community at Herman Miller. With racial inequities and social justice coming into focus across societies and corporations around the world, we took a hard look at how we're putting our beliefs about diversity, equity, and inclusion into practice," said Owen. "The CEO Action pledge, along with our series of company commitments, will push us forward in our journey toward positive change."

Probably helped her get her bonus. Didn't do shite for the employees.

Well it looks like she has a 26 million dollar hole to fill so who really gives a frick what her bonus or the bonuses of other top executives are based on?

Not really. If she as CEO already making a shite ton of money qualifies for another shite ton while others doesn’t make much sense. She’s responsible for the overall operation.
I hate unions but it’s shite like this that is making people think maybe unions are a great idea.

Dude is knighting hard as frick for a woman berating her employees while she drives the ship into an iceberg lmao.
If company wide bonuses are halted due to company wide performance, top execs should be getting zero dollars in bonus.
It's not like she is singling out specific low performers who didn't match their bonus receiving peers.

Good thing that annual bonus was guaranteed in the contract I signed prior to employment!
Ima go vape now

Never heard of this woman until this thread and I already said in a previous post that I would probably hate her on a personal level.
I have also stated in multiple posts that I don't know all the details, and apparently no one else in this thread does either.

Agreed. Is this what happened?
I have said in at least three different posts, some variation of: "If bonuses were earned and not paid, then this woman deserves all the scorn she is getting. But if the bonuses were not earned, then I have no issue"
Were the bonuses earned and not paid? Or not earned and also not paid?

If the employees said oh really?
And tanked intentionally, that speech would never occur again because the CEO would start getting a frick ton of questions
Sure bosses can make it hard on employees but employees can but a bosses neck much much faster

I see no problem with what she said. The fact that so many seem to be bothered by this speaks volumes about our current culture and lack of work ethic.

Are people upset with this? Maybe I need more context.
If I was her employee I'd be upset.
The context is that she's likely sitting in a very nice home making fat stacks, getting an executive bonus, all the while holding stock options.
Whatever, good for her. If I was a talented employee who could go elsewhere I would.
People being upset(rightfully, IMO) comes from her doing the equivalent of in medeival times dangling food in front of the starving peasants. The difference is she knows nothing can be done to her so she can run her mouth. People who act like this to their underlings do so because they know that they're safe. They act as if they have the protection that only a king would have had centuries ago. If you were to act that arrogant anywhere with a less effective penal system, she might literally be killed by someone who didn't like what she was saying.
I'm not saying she's wrong. I don't know her or how she got to the position she's in. Maybe she's the hardest worker alive, maybe she's a product of nepotism and good fortune. That's irrelevant. I'm saying that it's a really bad look to flaunt your food in front of the peasants while telling them that the harvest has been tough this year.
