Trick question. Painting bedrooms is one of the easiest DIY. So I would pay the worker nothing and do it myself.

Commercial GC here, Id pay my guy (Hispanic, not that it matters) $200 with me supplying material. More of there is considerable drywall work needed.

They usually bring help. Sometimes the help is good and sometimes not.

If you can find a good one $250 so for a room like that. Less per room as you add.

250 if just walls and ceiling. But if it is heavy on trim and/or vaulted or wainscoted and different colors, could be 450/500 for quality work.

0......use people who pay taxes in this country. And don't think they are putting anything back in spending in US. IF they make 300.00, 295.00 goes by money order back to their country. Why do you think there's long lines at customer service at Wal mart and grocery stores?

I wouldn't hire an undocumented worker. Giving them work encourages illegal immigration.

I know a lady that paints, she charges $25 an hour cash only. A typical bedroom takes her about 3-4 hours depending on how much trim she has to do. So $75-$100

I wouldn't pay an undocumented worker....I'd pay someone who was working as day labor and assume if they are in the country they belong here and there is no legal requirement on the part of an individual to verify the immigration status of a person they have contracted with to perform a service any more than a customer at McDonalds would be required the immigration status of the owner or their employees. The person is not an employee....they are a contractor. Their immigration status as such is immaterial to you legally. You may have some moral or ethical issues personally but legally there is no issue.

I would ask them how much they'd do it for and offer them about 20% less and when they countered I would decide if it was worth my time to do it myself. If you pay them by the hour they will need to be supervised closely or they will not work dilligently. If you agree to a set price they will need to be supervised or they will do a shitty job, not do what you expected and generally frick up the work.

If you are worried about immigration status as a moral or ethical dilemna go to your nearest homeless shelter or soup kitchen and even Goodwill type places and ask if they know of anyone needing day work....chances are they do. They may be bad drunks but for an 8 hour day are as dependable as any employee because they badly need the money for a drink. Don't pay them a cent until they are finished or they will never finish. And supervise them...or they will also do a shitty job.

Depending on whats in the room, this might be a good price actually

4 walls, 8 foot ceiling height of a different color, probably a couple of doors and a window? If the walls, trim and ceiling are all different colors, typical, and all that is being painted is the walls, $350 labor for 288 square feet of occupied space sounds like a bargain to me....Anyone claiming they can do that and do it right in a couple of hours is grossly over estimating their painting ability...I would think most people would take at least 3 hours per room to do it in a one off situation...if you were doing it every day and had it down to a science an hour per room may be possible but even a professional painter ain't doing 8 of that size rooms in 8 hours. Its close to 400 square feet per room and most painting estimating programs are based on somewhere between 300 and 400 square feet per hour per painter...but that is straight rolling square feet in unoccupied spaces up to 8 feet high, with a typical wall color. 1 coat, over previously primed sheet rock. Every opening...doors, windows, outlets, switches etc. add time. That is also straight rolling without corners and without baseboard/door/window trim that has to be cut it and does not include cutting in ceilings...it is blank sheet rock with no floor or ceiling, 300-400 square feet an hour for a professional painter.

Id say I was slower than most homeowners would be painting. It would take me at least the better part of a Saturday to paint a 12X12 bedroom one coat of the same color it was already painted and does not include painting ceiling or trim. Getthing the shite rounded up, in the aread, moving the shite or covering it so I could get to the walls, pulling face plates and removing blinds and curtains...painting, clean up and putting away supplies? Yeah, thats a good 5- 6 hours for me...2 of them identical would take another couple of hours at best. 7-8 hours at best with about 4-5 of those consisting of actually painting...I would feel like I had done a pretty efficient job.

Do it yourself or hire a pro. Otherwise:

they come back and burglarize your house.

Knew some guy and he hired 2 black dudes to do a simple job. They did a half assed job and demanded more money, he told them no.

They came back in the night beat him unconscious raped his wife and put a knife into both of his eyes for fun. He and his wife lived while TPOSs will rot in prison for the rest of their miserable lives but it didn't have to happen.

It ain't worth it. Hire a professional who does this shite all day every day and can't tell your house from anyone else's.

Are you really that strapped for time/effort? Painting a bedroom is easy as hell. You could go at a snails pace and paint both rooms in a few hours. Do you have to take a ton of shite off the walls?

frick that.

The only thing I hate more than painting is floating Sheetrock.

I am about to have to go this route to have furniture moved. Hoping I can get it done for less than $500.
