That's dumb...so everyone starts each year with no time available to use.
Often companies that don't allow roll over will start everyone off with their yearly allotment.

I don't get PTO until after I've been with Wal-Mart for 12 months. Hoping to become the produce department manager soon to really rake in the cash.

That's sort of makes sense, at least if it's a company with low turnover. I'm just used to earning so much time every pay period. I can roll over 240, which I will have in the bank sometime next year...and still will have around 120 hours to use next year.

i always have straight up honest talks with my employers and let them know its their choice to roll over my time or i will walk in and notify them im taking 2 weeks off so i dont lose it
in most cases they agree it can roll over, the few that dont get pissed but as i told them, its my time and im not giving it up because you are short handed since you are making everyone take time off or lose it.
only spineless cucks agree to give up their PTO because its not a good time for the "company"

40hrs vacation, 40hrs sick.

None, use it or lose it. Ours is based on work anniversary date, not calendar year. That does help with so many people wanting taking the last week or two of the year off since they have days to burn. Based on that -- if there was a big project during the previous 12 months and vacations were limited across the board, you could arrange with your boss to take a week after your year resets. Other than that, vacation days do not roll over and accumulate. Our company has been good about letting you go to Dr appointments, dentist, pick up child at school, meet plumber at the house, etc -- all without having to request that time off or count it as vacation. So it pretty much evens out.

Salaried employees can’t roll over vacation or PTO days.
Use it or loose it.
Hourly employees use or loose vacation days, but can sell back PTO day.
No one gets to roll over any days.

All of it. Our PTO never resets, you just get capped.

80 hours. We get a lot of PTO and they really encroach everyone to use as much of it every year as possible, which is pretty cool.

We call it use or lose as well, anything above and beyond the rollover limit. I don't get why this is even a thing though...are there really people out there who just opt to lose it. Let me give up my time and money I've earned to the company and just keep working. frick all that.

Use it or lose it.
I plan all my PTO out regardless. I’m no workaholic.

However much I want. I answer to me.

No rollover. Hourly employees get paid out any unused PTO, though it's rare any of them have any left. Salaried employees don't have a set amount of PTO - get your shite done and take off when you want.
