Went to Kroger tonight. After I was finished shopping for groceries, I walk up to a self check out machine, and proceed to reach into my wallet to grab my Kroger Plus card. The screen froze up and sent an immediate "Attendant has been notified to assist you" message, but at that same time I noticed a $20.00 bill laying in the change dispensary. I waited for about 5 seconds to see if someone had mistakenly left without it, and also noticed there was some dish soap in a bag that had been left behind as well. The Kroger employee standing 10 feet away from me with the little hand held computer never looked over at me or came over to assist, so I looked over my shoulder one more time, and then grabbed the $20. Pushed my cart forward to the next self check out machine, paid for my groceries and then left.

TL;DR Version - Found $20.00 in a self check out change dispensary at Kroger, and took it.

You should drop the 20 in a donation box at a local church

So, obviously someone left it and the soap. You sound like a democrat. That was a POS move. My dignity is worth more than $20.

That's pretty shitty. I would at least let the manager know.

If somebody realized they left their soap, they would return shortly!!! And also for the $20. I hope you feel like shite!!!!! I would have brought both to the managers office and hope the rightful owner returned!!! Also leaving my name and number if no one claimed it in 2 days, they would give it back to me. My conscience would have been cleared!!

have to agree, that was pretty shitty. I personally would call the store and tell them what happened...if whoever left their shite there calls or comes back, they can call you to return the stuff.

Lol at surrendering your dignity over a fricking 20, like a kid who would end up spending that on Icees and airheads at the circle k

eta: Worse than stealing (that's what you did) $20 is bragging about it on a message board. Weird.

I understand your questioning of my character over this, but twenty dollars is twenty dollars. Do you realize how much Kroger brand chocolate milk you can buy with twenty smackaroos? We're talking gallons.

I would've given it to the attendant, not judging - but the person before might've been a poor mfer that was in a hurry and not only forgot their bag, but their money.

Related: Why the little walls around the keypad? Like anyone actually tries to poach anybody's Kroger membership in line.

Maybe that person who lost that $20 needed it more than you!!! Should have made some effort to get it back to them!! And what did you do with the soap dish???? I bet you probably left that there!!!
